My belly was huge and I could feel the pups moving around inside of this huge belly. It warmed me with happiness to think of having a family, to bring new forms into this world. I lay asleep next to my Silver curled up next to his form. The sharp pains have started a few days ago and they have been progressing and getting worse. A pain jabbed my side and woke me from my peaceful sleep. This pain didn't go away. Ears lay flattened againstmy skull asI stretch out across the smooth, cool den floor.

"Silver its time"

My breathing was getting faster and I felt like I was sweating buckets. The first pup was on its way and it was ready to come out. I exhaled and inhaled as I pushed the pup out of my womb and out into the open air. Instincts take over and I'm stretching my head around to break the pup from its cage and warm it with my tongue. I waited for anything to come out of it and worry built up into me. No please don't be dead. Suddenly though the pup gave a soft sneeze and began to squeal. A smile crossed my face as I picked up the male pup and moved him towards my belly. The coloring on this pup was more like silver but his front end had my black coloring.

"Silver he looks a lot like you"

I say giving the father of this pup a lick on the cheek but more quick contractions clouded my vision and the second pup slid out. Once again I reached around to break it from its cage and lick it dry but something was not right about this small pup. She never moved or squealed. My ears are perked forward as I nudge the little girl trying to wake her and let her know everything is okay her mommy is here now but nothing. This pup was dead. With a shake of my head I nudge the dead pup away and focus my attention back on the little male that suckled.

"What should we name him?"
