The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Mwonaji's eyes

The brightness that had been surrounding her suddenly vanished and replaced with utter darkness. How far had she gone in just a moment? Though she could not see, she sensed an aged and dark aura surrounding her amongst the towering trees. Mwonaji hid behind a large old tree nearest her, on two legs as Safi had taught her, posed to jump to the nearest branch, waiting for any sound causing alarm, for she knew her kind could not “climb” as Safi had shown her. Her heightened senses could smell and hear for miles, but there was nothing but the trumpeting silence. Mwonaji could hear no sounds in any direction and could smell no scents other than her own. She had never fully gotten used to Safi’s sour and salty scent and she new full well she would be a target out here for any of her kind because of it, but the blood was the last of Safi that Mwonaji could carry with her and she did not have the will nor the means to wash the blood of the two-legged from her face and hind.

Mwonaji carefully and slowly let herself down, trying not to cause alarm to those of her kind she knew to be near enough. She must continue. This was where she belonged. This was where she should have been her whole life, with her own kind. But she had made a choice, and now because of her Safi was dead. She could never let that happen again and she knew the only way was to find her own kind. To find a healer among them who knew more than any other. And to pledge her life to learning the art so no one would ever die against her again.

So she pressed on, newly determined. Mwonaji rather liked the dark and protective feel of the forest, which made her all the more uneasy. There is nothing you can do now, she thought, but continue until you find the ones you belong with. She carefully padded on, keeping close to the trees with low branches for a quick escape for she could not trust anyone. Deeper and deeper into this thick, dark forest she travelled. Only to stop when she found someone like her…or they found her…
