aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

You’ve probably had a lot more experience in that field than me then! Or maybe you’re simply a natural – I am awful at fishing; maybe I need to work on my reflexes… And Hellene I doubt it’s the only thing you’re good at – there’s probably loads of things only you’re looking at the negative things. Hellene smiled at the other fae’s kind words, but life had been so difficult with her sister. Athene had had to constantly save her whenever she got into trouble. She found Leila’s words hard to believe. But then she thought about them, and came up with an idea. “Leila… we should go fishing sometime together. I could help you learn how to fish, if you helped me to get on Kalgalath’s good side. It seems to be so easy for you… do you think you would be interested in that?” She hoped she would. Not only would Hellene feel good about being able to help out, she would also be helped. Teaching was something that was outside of her comfort zone. Being helped was something that was comfortable and familiar. It would be a good mix.

As they had continued to swim and Hellene had choked on the water, Leila had seemed to be worried, but luckily the moment had passed quickly. Hellene had gotten back at Leila for her water attack. Okay, you got me back! Hellene smiled as she exited the water and waited for Leila to exit as well, which she did soon after Hellene. At the timberess’ words, Leila had smiled. No need to thank me, you would have found this place sooner or later – I was just giving you a head start but I am glad I showed you it anyway. Hellene was not so sure that she would have SAFELY discovered this on her own – she was quite a klutz when it came to adventures, but she quietly accepted her words with a smile. And then Hellene had opened her maw hesitantly talking to Leila about the option for adoption. Leila, as of now, was her only friend, and for all other intents and purposes, the fae was alone in the world, even without family. She had her sister, but they were separated, and probably would be for a long while. Athene always went on about how Hellene had to learn lessons for herself, and that the hard way is the best way to learn. Athene would not come looking for her anytime soon. And Hellene had left, and found a life for herself here. She would not be returning.

To her surprise, Leila seemed to be overwhelmingly optimistic about the idea. It’s a brilliant idea! The femme’s plume began to sway excitedly. She had had her eyes upon one of the small fae pups, Khaleesi, who reminded Hellene so much of herself. She was loud, and forward, and even a bit clumsy. It seemed a perfect fit. But then there was also Destan, the quiet pup who had seemed to become comfortable around Hellene. Could she be a good mother to both? Or should she stay with just one? But could she adopt just one in good conscience? When? Hellene smiled faintly. “I will have to think about it. There are two pups I have spent a good deal of time with – Khaleesi and Destan. I don’t know whether I should adopt just one, or both of them. I so dearly love pups, and want some family. Of course I have to see if the pups would even want a mother…” The fae’s voice trailed off as she hunkered down onto the warm silt that surrounded the water and began to bask in the sunlight, allowing the warm rays to dry her coat a little more and heat her chilled body. Her lids closed as she relaxed. “What do you think I should do, Leila? Both? Or one?” Hellene inhaled deeply, enjoying the fresh air that was blowing off of the lake’s surface.

Sitting up suddenly, she focused upon Leila once more. “So I don’t know many of the members here. Do you have family? Or a mate? If we are to be friends, I should know a bit more about you.” Though she didn’t want to pry, she was honestly curious about the femme.
