Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

She steadied herself between the two males, eyes drifting from one to the other in deft assessment of the situation. She trusted both of them to keep their cool, but the situation was, admittedly, unique to her. She had never had pups. She had never had a mate – she chuckled to herself as she thought the word in context for the first time. It always seemed so impersonal: mate. But she knew now that there was more to it. She had a Sen. A portion of herself that had been missing. And she had a good friend in Cozscotl. The quiet creature had a good friend in her. She was delighted to be in the duo’s company, at peace.

When Sen broke the quiet between himself and Coza, she knew all would be well. She could feel him relax next to her, though he kept close to the den, protective of the little lives below them. She couldn’t express how grateful – surprised, even – she was that he had accepted them as well as her. Her warm eyes fell on Sen as he addressed her friend, accepting him as well, and a wave of joy broke over her. Her tail swayed and she beamed with pleasure. Coza tread carefully along in their language, greeting Sen in turn, and she giggled quietly. She didn’t mean to poke fun at him, of course, and she hoped he knew that. She was not a mean-spirited girl.

It was just a good day to laugh.

She nodded enthusiastically at the mention of the puppies – she was so proud of them, of herself. For all intents and purposes they were their puppies, since she hadn’t noticed anyone else coming along to see about them. Her eyes darted back to Sen, gauging his reaction. Was he uncomfortable at being reminded of the situation? She hadn’t intended to cuckold him…they weren’t technically together at the time, and she had felt special to be chosen as surrogate for the two kings of Glorall.

Obviously, things had not gone exactly as planned. She had been assured that the raising of them would be left to their fathers, but now it looked like she was in over her head. But not alone. Even as she thought it, she slowly brought herself to Sen’s side, pressing her shoulder against him and smiling at Coza as if nothing were amiss. “He is,” she agreed brightly, nuzzling his neck encouragingly. “I’m lucky to have him.” The word ‘tribute’ rang in her ears. What did that mean? She turned her head quizzically. “What do you mean by tribute?

They hadn’t really discussed the matter of her puppies in detail. They met. She ran. He found her. And then, just like that, they were together. It had all come together on its own. There were still things to talk about one day, if they needed discussing. But he hadn’t asked questions, and she hadn’t overloaded him with the complicated story. For now, she was content to catch up with Coza and revel in their honeymoon phase.
