The Alpha was travelling on the way around the border, awaiting Zig. Her return was the only thing that was causing him to postpone the pack meeting, and the brute had finally picked up on her scent, so her position was his destination. A sharp yip cut through the extremely humid air, which was so thickly saturated that Kalgalath could have likely cut through it with his daggers. Shortly after the alien sound, more scents were carried to his nares on the wind. And then he had realized that her stench was intertwined with two others. One, he was very familiar with – Magic – but the other was unknown to him. Apparently, there was another stranger at the border waiting to be greeted. Kalgalath increased his pace, not wanting to make the brute wait longer than necessary. But moreso, the brute didn’t want to put off the pack meeting. The trio came into his visionaries, and Kal held back, waiting to see how the two femmes addressed the situation. In the meantime, he examined the brute. He was a maned wolf, a rare breed of the species that Kalgalath had rarely come upon, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he was related to the King of Cold Summers, Axel. The titan was not the typical color design of a kalik – he was indeed tawny but the only white than lay upon his frame were two stripes on either cheek, almost like scars from claws. However, Kalgalath assumed instead that it was his natural marking. He looked young, and yet he was tall, about as tall as Kalgalath was, if not taller.
The brute was sweating, and to be honest Kalgalath was too. He wanted nothing more than to travel to their own private entry to Leisure Lake and submerge his thick pelt in its cool, refreshing waves. But that would have to wait. The brute was stationed out underneath the cool shade of one of the many trees that lined the terra and the surrounding land, no doubt seeking relief from the hot sun. Magic was the first to speak to the brute, her words polite but commanding. State your name and business with Aurora Borealis, and I will allow you to speak with our alpha. Be quick however, because if you do not prove to have good reason with your being, I will chase you from the border myself. She sat upon the earth calmly, her plume wrapped around her limbs. Zig must have arrived after Magic, but her words surprised Kalgalath. They were uttered with a growl, and Zig stood between the newcomer and Magic, facing her. Magic. I suggest you watch your tongue. I will not tolerate such harshness with newcomers in my pack. If you wish to be cruel then I suggest you gather up your little family and get the hell out. Sin would never allow this and neither will I. This has been my home for most of my life and I will not stand for such things.
It was at that moment that Kalgalath chose to show himself. His reign had brought the pack back to life and had made it stronger. With the pack meeting coming up and ranks soon to be awarded, he had hopes that it would become more of a family. But acts as what he just saw he would not allow to slide, especially in the presence of an unknown lupine. Kalgalath strode out from the treeline, his lids slitted and his plume curled stiffly over his dorsal. His stride was taut, and he loomed over the two pack members. Though his heart beat faster when he looked at the fae, he would treat all members equally as long as they had earned his respect. He addressed the brute first. “My name is Kalgalath, and I am the Alpha of the pack whose terra you are at the borders of. I apologize for what you have had to witness. I will be right with you.” Turning his gaze to the fae who made his heart beat, his maw opened once more, his vocals quiet but stern. “Zig. You and Magic are of the same ranking currently. No ranking. If there is an issue with how she addresses newcomers, I will address it. You have been here longer than her, longer than me, longer than Kong. But you have no position or power to speak as such to her. Especially in front of a newcomer. We are a pack, we are a family. We will work together. I will not stand for this again.” His nares flared and Kalgalath briefly looked back to the brute. “He smells of Axel of Cold Summers. There is a reason to question him.” His gaze would stay upon her until she backed down, at which time he turned away from her. “I suggest you start heading to the meadow. There will be a pack meeting soon. We will talk more about this later.”
His attention turned to Magic, dipping his head to her. “Thank you for approaching this brute. I will take it from here. As I told Zig, a pack meeting will occur soon. I hope to see you, Glitch, and your adorable daughter there.” Finally, his icy gaze turned to lay on the kalik. “As Magic asked, I inquire as to your name and your business with my pack. Explain your relation to the Alpha of Cold Summers, for his scent lingers upon you – be truthful. And be quick in your response.” His gaze traveled after the fae he had sent away. “Better yet, follow me. I am calling a pack meeting. Should your business be anything other than to join our ranks as a warrior, you may speak to me when it is concluded. If your business is, however, to join, consider yourself accepted as long as you explain yourself fully to me, and to all of us at the meeting.” With that, Kalgalath turned back toward the center of his terra and began to stride forth. “I suggest you keep up.”
