aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

No need to apologize, Hellene. You are not late, the day is still young. Hellene allowed a small bit of a smile to come across her kissers, glad to see at least some improvement in her relationship with the king of the terra. Kong had arrived next, dipping his head to Kalgalath in greeting but remaining silent as his sits upon the earth. Leila had then greeting her, and Hellene smiled and nodded her head, letting her friend know that she was well. As the other wolves had spoken among themselves, Hellene had started to address the pups, unsure how to go about telling them of her plans. Destan had whimpered then and Hellene worried that the nervous pup had misunderstood her term. A misshapen brute had travelled forth then, apologizing as Hellene had for being late before travelling to Magic’s side, nuzzling her, and Hellene smiled, realizing that this must be her mate. He greeted some of the other wolves politely, and Hellene smiled at him. “Hello… my name is Hellene. It’s nice to meet you.” Her shyness was gone at that point, her ego and confidence returned as Kalgalath’s words had been kinder to her than his last. Just then, the fae who had placed herself at Kalgalath’s side stood and cleared her throat before announcing the results of the alliance. Hellene finds herself wagging her plume at the femme’s words – her home was now stronger and safer.

And then, to Hellene’s surprise, Kalgalath had brought from behind him a small grey pup, a newborn whose eyes were not even open. The brute placed her into the center and asked for help. I found this newborn pup by Staircase Falls. I gave her a little of my stomach contents to keep her nourished and warm. But since she had no colostrum she needs something to boost her immune system. I was hoping one of you would know some herblore. He had glanced around to see if any of them would offer forth their knowledge. The femme at Kal’s side had moved forward and nudged the pup and then curled around her, keeping the pup warm. As the whole ordeal happened, Hellene realized that Destan and ran between her legs and had cuddled into her pelt. The femme glanced down and her blackened nose moved close to her ears. “Destan… what I meant beforehand is that I want to be your mother.” Her amber orbs swiveled to Khaleesi. “I want to be your mother too, Khaleesi. I want us to be a family.” Her vocals were quiet, not wanting to interrupt the pack meeting, and not wanting a loud voice to scare Destan.

I think…I’m not sure but ragweed is supposed to give strength and energy but… immune system… sorry Kalgalath, I don’t know. Hellene’s ears flattened, her mind thinking as to her own herblore. Without the colostrum of a mother, the pup would be in danger of sickness. But what herb would boost that? “Garlic.” Hellene jumped at the sound of her own voice, not realizing that she had spoken aloud. Her ambers raised to meet Kalgalath’s icy ones. “I… well my mother was a healer. Garlic. Echinacea…Ginseng and Red Bush are good too. Red Bush is the best, I think, but also the hardest to find. It’s best if it is seeped in water and then drank. I can go search for some.” Gently, she separated her limb from the pup. “Destan, I have to go. I’ll be back soon. Think about what I said…

Silently, the fae slipped away, looking for the elusive plant. It was hard to spot for unless it was old, it was not actually red, but a bush-like plant with yellow flowers. Still, she had to find some for the pup. Her search brought her out of the terra, for it was too wet and humid for the plant. Instead, she travelled swiftly to the eerie runes, which was overly dry and indeed, she found a single bush there. The leaves were still green, meaning that they were more potent, but needed to seep longer for they took longer to break down. The femme grabbed a few twigs and without a second thought chewed the leaves and swallowed them. Her stomach acid would break down the leaves quicker than water did, and it meant that she could give the pup some nutrients in addition to the immune-boosting herb. Ingesting the leaves themselves would surely leave her with a stomach ache, but it was worth it. Hellene began the trip back to the terra, her stomach already beginning to rumble. She hurried enough to make it to the pup, but slow enough so that her stomach would break down the brittle leaves so that the pup would not get cramps.

As she neared the group, her eyes searched out Destan, hoping that the anxious bruteling was not distraught at Hellene’s quick departure. She traveled to the pup and nudged her, urging her awake so that she could regurgitate a little of the food coated with the red bush essence. She waited patiently until the pup was ready and then shared her stomach content. Afterward, she retreated to Destan and Khaleesi’s side. “She should get this once per day ideally. It’s better if it is steeped in water. If she won’t drink from a puddle, one of the adults will need to eat the plant itself, let it break down, and then share the food with her. It will give US a stomach ache, but once it’s broken down, it will help her greatly.
