At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

can you hear that wonderful sound?
The Ferris wheel has started, now we’re stuck going round and round…

It confused Carn, but for no pressing length of time, that Yoki repeated her introductions. The little stutterer must have tripped over her own words and trodden over them in her haste to her defense. And defend she did! Oh, she had Carn leaning in on her muscled shoulders in anticipation, beating the tips of her nails against the sand. The Malignant fatale loved how instantly Yoki choked her nerves, throttling them with such swiftness and complete abolishment that, had the day made her just slightly more upbeat, Carn would’ve laughed. The pitch black wolf’s intonations that followed, completely shutting down any leeway to funnel Carn’s curiosity, gave her two choices. Either she continued to push the lass until she broke down (this was the more fun choice, to be honest) or she could pull back, stop prodding the sensitive buttons riddling this girl’s mentality, and keep it friendly.

Keep it friendly...Ah how a part of her wished that she was in Devil’s place, fighting right now. No, instead, she glanced up at the burning sky and let her skull descend with an equally burning mind, giving it a few seconds to scorch away her inbred desire to manipulate others. “Oh, darling, I haven’t been around these parts much so I was just curious. Please, relax. Your mate is safe.” A sigh floated easily from her chest and she shifted to gaze straight at Yoki. The sand was hot but it softened her form and she leaned into it with the lounging airs of a fatigued heiress. Suddenly, her threatening manner ceased to influence her tone. This day was long, and took with it every moment her need to keep up her appearances. “I admire it, is all. I’ve never had a mate that loved me. I didn’t love him either. But it must be nice.” Her head cocked gently, bent into the slight breeze.

It was obvious how uncomfortable she made Yoki. Though she knew it would be kinder to leave the ebon girl well enough alone, Carnival could not describe why she prolonged the torture. Before, she’d thought it had something to do with the girl’s immersion into her life, so much so that her face betrayed her insecurities. But why had that stopped Carn? Carn could not fix Yoki, and if there was a balm for this girl’s problems at all, it certainly wasn’t talking. Yoki was just different, that was all. She was not the type for seduction, and her innocence rattled a part of Carn that stubbornly clung to its captor. Never had she been innocent like that, and her eyes were shaded and distant in the seconds she recalled her childhood.

Is this how a snake looked? Its amber eyes cast confusedly out into space, neck pulling her crown back to regally throw it in the direction of her companion. Or was it the flick of the gaze that set itself on that companion at the finale of these moments? It expressed dissatisfaction, which worn on the face of the snake contorted it into a mask of age-old hatred. But what is a snake supposed to look like when it feels that it has suffered?
