Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Never alone. The words mean so much to Iblis that he can't even say anything back. Many years had been spent wandering the land alone with no family, no real purpose to exist. Sheer will and the desire to protect the weak had kept the warrior grounded to earth. Even Jaidah, the white ghost who had once held his soul, did not walk by his side. Though she held the chain, Iblis still slept alone. Now, however, things would be different. Rhae moved with him, occasionally pressing into him as if to remind him she was there and always would be. As they moved closer to the hunting ground, Iblis watched his imprint with keen eyes. The muscles under her beautiful coat rippled as she prepared to attack and her teal eyes shown with the cunning of a hunter. This was going to be good. While the wolfess watched the herd, Iblis watched her, following her gaze and judging her strategy. Then, she leaned down to give Iblis a final nuzzle on the cheek before bursting from their hiding spot and charging into the herd.

For a moment, Iblis waited as he watched Rhae fly across the ground in the bright morning light. Her teeth were barred as a chorus of barks and growls left her mouth. She aimed her aggression at a foolish mother and fawn that had moved away from the herd. The larger wolf blocked their way and at once all was chaos. Seeing the danger, the other does rounded their babies and bounded away from the lone mother and fawn. In a world like this one, it was survival of the fittest and smartest. The deer tried to dance around the wolf, but it was all in vain as Rhae snapped and barked at her. The doe backed away, trying to kick her foe but each attempted missed. Iblis watched the fawn, saw how it was torn between staying by its side or running away, and thought now was his chance.

A smaller frame meant less to carry. Less to carry meant more speed and like a lightning flash, Iblis shot towards the fawn. Survival instincts were bred into this babe and it saw Iblis coming out of the corner and turned to run for its very life while its mother watched in vain. Without missing a beat, the smaller wolf banked right and the chase began. Wind rushed past Iblis as his paws carried him over the ground and the scent of fawn filled his nose, only driving him faster. There was a moment when he thought the little bugger was going to get away, but luck was on his side and a single trip of the hoof and it fell practically into the waiting wolf's mouth. The force of the blow snapped the young beast's neck, killing it instantly, and Iblis held it in his jaws as Rhae moved away from the doe. He let her take the kill from him and together they moved away from the mourning doe and into the woods.

It had been like clockwork. Together, the newly imprinted pair had worked in perfect unison to bring down a meal that would feed them both for the day. It was like Fate had bonded them together knowing it was the best match. Iblis watched Rhae as they reached a secluded place to eat and took a step back from the kill. Lowering his head, Iblis smiled at Rhae. "A queen always takes the first bite."
