aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Shortly after his minute breakdown Kal declared the pack meeting to be over. Ranks, whatever they were, had been assigned and the king seemed more absorbed in sleep and caring for the newborn pup he had publicized to the majority of Aurora Borealis. A small and nearly inaudible sigh huffed out of the pup’s chest as realization hit him. He had attended and conquered his first ever pack meeting. Any other wolf would have been exultant at their achievement, but that was not the case for Destan. He had overcome one of many fears and anxiety would not let up for celebrations of any sort. As soon as one terror was trounced another one appeared swiftly in its wake. Life had never been and would never be simple. In a moment of panic Destan had let words slide from his kissers. Words that had sparked a reaction in the older female he had been nuzzling into. Though she had not replied then and there, a smile had formed on her muzzle. It was clear, even to the hazed mind of Destan, that she cared deeply for himself and Khaleesi but he couldn’t have ever for seen the dramatic twist in his upside down life. A petite but powerful emotion peeled back the anxiety bit by bit allowing him to feel something other than dread. It was a sensation the young grey bruteling was unfamiliar with but he could feel it burning its way through his chest. It frightened him but he let it continue all the same, for the mood was lost whenever Hellene was gone. The only solution would be to make sure that the angel was never again lost and there was only one plausible way to do such a thing; become part of her family.

The trio of unrelated wolves left the clearing brusquely after the monarch had retreated moving gradually to a place of serenity, private enough to discuss pressing matters. The male sauntered along behind the adult, his over-sized paws tumbling forward as he tried to keep up with the female. Now and again his emerald orbs would flicker between the russet, grey form of Hellene and the contrasting white of Khaleesi. The two females were indubitably different to Destan in form and personality. Both the vixens were blessed with a confident and positive demeanour the bruteling, on the other hand, was of a more apprehensive nature. His body naturally curved in a subordinate stature, his tail tucked flawlessly under his tail in a fretful manner. Living and growing with dissimilar characters would undoubtedly be a difficult task for the pup, but in the long run it would do him a world of good. Once or twice the pup would catch the reassuring gaze of Hellene the smile on her kissers doing some to settle the ever growing nerves. The male wasn’t exactly sure what being in a family was supposed to feel like. He had been subjected to misery and verbal abuse, was this how it would be with Hellene? At the thought of the angelic femora growling and hissing at him like his biological mother had, the lad whimpered refocusing his gaze on the terra beneath his paws. Surely the sweet disposition of the huntress was no pretence. Filled with a new trouble to overcome, the male quivered noticeably. His juddering pistons carried him forwards wearily, his emerald gaze still fixed on the earth.

After what seemed like a lifetime of walking the small group approached a mountain like formation in which a den was situated. It was a sheltered and isolated lair and one that would bring the peace and quiet the pup yearned for. His make-shift den had just about protected him from the elements but was subject to a lot of paw traffic which was something he wasn’t fond of. As Hellene’s den exposed itself to his view, the pup’s spirits lifted slightly. Having a new, more serene den was definitely a positive of having a new family. Following closely behind the older ess, Destan reached his new home and instantly relaxed. Though he knew the conversation they were about to have would supply his demons and monsters with plenty of fuel, he was content enough to sit and enjoy the peace for now. The lad seated himself on his haunches shuffling till he was comfortable enough before resting his gaze on Hellene; his potential mother.
