PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

The silence had been uncomfortable, which was a new experience for the grills. Typically silence made her feel solace, but in this moment it pushed upon her chest as she rested her face against her friend. When the draft began to speak, Mouse felt as though she could breathe again. The first words she heard were unexpected, but she did not interrupt her friend. Instead, she listened quietly, taking comfort in the sound of Impa's voice at the same time as she felt a rising sense of sadness at her words.

Mouse did not know which was worse: remembering your family and finding they were gone, or hardly being able to remember them at all. Sometimes, if she squeezed her eyes tightly shut, she would see them. But they were blurred, and it was difficult to tell whether she actually remembered or if she had made them up to cope. She pulled away from Impa to try and catch her eye again, to tell her without words how she understood. Perhaps to the blanketed mare it had been a terrible reason to leave like she had, without saying a word; but Mouse definitely understood. In fact, she might have done the same if she ha an inkling of her place of origin. "It always hurts to lose family," she said simply. There was more she could have said, but she could tell by the pained look on her friend's face that now was not the time.

After some moments of reflection, during which she tried again in vain to remember faces and names, the mention if Osprey drew Mouse from her thoughts. She already knew they'd met, of course, from the filly's excited words, but she was interested to hear what Impa's impressions were of the girl. Her ears pricked and a grin appeared on her face at the thought that her daughter did not only resemble Styrke. Though she had tried to feel otherwise, she occasionally could not prevent seeing his face in Osprey's. It bothered her, but the tobiano's face was usually so full of bright expressions that she found it easy to push away such feelings.

"I hope she wasn't too rude,"
she said with a small smirk. "She has a strong head sometimes." She shook her head with a resigned sigh. Her smile faded slightly as she thought again about the last time she and Impa had spoken. In the months when the other mare had been looking for her family, Mouse had wondered if maybe it had been her reaction to Impa's battle that had driven her away. Though she now knew otherwise, she was compelled to say something.

"I never really...thanked you."
She looked up again, hoping she would not have to go into more detail. "So, thank you. For everything."
