To: Tampa Fire & Police Pension Fund Board of Trustees From: Jennifer D. Campbell, Plan Administrator
Date: August 5, 2013 Re: Retirement

As I reach my 15th year of service to the Tampa Fire & Police Pension Fund, its participants, beneficiaries and trustees, I choose to retire to enjoy my own retirement.

I leave you with an exceptional, competent, and capable staff to carry on the daily administration and operation of this very unique and extraordinary fund-a very different situation than the one I inherited in 1998. This is also an opportune time for the fund to make a transition.

While this might appear abrupt, it is entirely consistent with the terms under which I have worked for the past 15 years--I could have been let go at any time at the pleasure of the board, without notice and without severance. I would suggest the board consider an alternative situation for my successor.

The past decade and a half has been filled with dramatic changes for Tampa F&P Pension-implementing multiple significant plan enhancements, defending a plethora of lawsuits, and coping with the resulting fractured membership who often vent their ire on the very staff that serves them. I would encourage the board to seek solutions to ameliorate the resultant sometimes toxic work environment for all concerned.

As there is no appreciable mustering out pay accumulated after my recent surgery and recovery, I simply request that I be paid my base salary through today-nothing more.

Respectfully,

Jennifer D. Campbell

P.S. I have no desire for a plaque.
