Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

With bated breath I waited for her reaction to my presence. Her gaze had turned away from mine in that first moment when the world had fallen away from me, but soon thereafter she had looked into my eyes again. I found my belly warmed by her sheer gaze resting upon me. Finally a smile graced her features, and I thought perhaps I had never seen such a beautiful sight in the world before and never would again. The symbol of her happiness lifted a weight from my chest and my tail continued to wag idly behind me. After seconds that felt like hours, she spoke her name. “Elowen,” I echoed, testing the taste of it as it rolled off my tongue with such ease as though I had known the name all my life. But I had not, it was new and fresh in my mind, and the slight accent to her speech enchanted me.

A moment of silence stretched between us as I floundered for what to say to her. It was not as if I could express outright these emotions that had taken hold of my heart. We had only just met, and there was certain fragility to such situations. Of course I had never handled any matters of the heart before, nothing beyond the love one felt for his family. Frantically my mind flipped through possible topics of conversation, anything to keep her engaged and to give me the opportunity to get to know her better. To let her see me for whom I was. My eyes remained steady and quiet, not giving way to the chaos that wrought my mind. Testing the air with a slightly deeper breath, I tried to detect any hint of pack in her scent. Nothing. Perhaps she was a waif of sorts.

Are you new to Moladion? Surely if I had seen your face before there would be no chance of my forgetting it,” I said, the grin already upon my face pulling slightly to the left. Typically I was not one for such banter and flirtation, but I could not contain the words as they slipped from my lips. Feeling slightly sheepish, I absent mindedly glanced over my shoulder at the other wolves that rested on the edge of the lake, using it as an excuse to break our gaze and allow me to catch my breath. But I could not look away for more than a breadth of a moment before my eyes returned to hers, only hoping I would not look back and find a look that even resembled unhappiness in her beautiful orbs.
