At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Ah. What was it that he said? His words uttered would bind her, torment her, strap her with leather and cut into her skin. Be mine, Kohaku. Her breathing stopped. He wrapped his hands around her throat and kept her pinned against a concrete wall, willing her to obey. Willing her to listen to him. Could he feel that power of his? She wondered... Did it burn, as it scorched through his lyrics? Be my mate. Alas, she couldn't come up for air. This boy here had tossed her into a lake, and put his hand over her skull to keep her head down. He was... drowning her. Did he know it? They felt like lies, too. Lies... dark lies. What was this boy's true intentions? But Kohaku pushed through the murky water and forced a breath to enter her system. Everything started working again, too. She had never felt so clean in her life. She wanted to burn him on a cross and watch as he went down in flames.

Nikandros, heir of Queens, brother to Kaizer, prince of Malignant Felicity-- She had snapped her head around to face him once more, unrelenting viper portals baring their amber fangs, dripping in sunlit toxins. Surely this was just another one of his jests. If it was... she did not find it funny at all. Anger pushed through the emotionless facade of hers. She wanted to see his dying face as he struggled to breathe. Yes. That's what she wanted. But that was also something she never wanted to happen... what the fuck was wrong with her? She closed her eyes and forced herself to calm down. She couldn't let him keep affecting her like this. He was some sort of drug within her system and she couldn't get him out. She couldn't get enough of him either... he made her want more. And it ticked her the hell off. You’re scaring me. With his eyes like that... raging, stormy oceans. She had already made a commitment. And Nikandros was not quite ready to claim her. His heart... what was it doing? It seemed that this prince had two different sides to him... And those damn tears fucking started up again. No. She couldn’t. After all, he didn’t want a wolf like her as a lover. He didn’t want a wolf like her as a mate. Did he even know the commitment and the meaning behind the word? It had been her mother’s worst mistake, taking Scarface as a mate. He had let her slip away.

And then it hit Kohaku right in the skull, nearly knocking her out. She was just like her mother. She loved, but she could not love. She was playing the devil’s game, just as Jeanne d’ Arc had done. And so, just as her mother had been faced with a sort of choice, Koh now had to choose. Demand Nikandros come with her, or leave as her mother had done, sneak away, and let things unfold from there? No. She couldn’t demand he come with her… because where you lead a varg, a raven will soon follow. She would want him back. She would be at Kohaku’s throat before the girl had her proper fighting techniques down. Before she had calmed the calamity that Nikandros had inflicted upon her. It stuck to her like some sort of transmitted disease. Her shoulders hunched and she was thinking about making a quick escape into the bushes behind her, sprinting for Aurora. But her pillars were concreted to the ground. She couldn’t move even if she so wanted to. She flattened her audettes against her skull and shut her eyes even tighter. How weak she had become. He was driving her mad, like this. He was going to send her to some kind of asylum. She tried again, and this time, her legs gave way.

She moved away as if Tor had given her wings. She tore through the undergrowth, breaking foliage, skin, and her own heart. She was playing it safe. She was flicking her king over to yield to whoever this female was. She wasn’t strong enough to face her. She wasn’t fit enough to fight for Nikandros. She knew that it could not be solved by simple promises. Words without meaning. That’s what they were… she told herself this many many times. And about two thirds of her wanted him to race after her. She wanted him to bring her back. She wanted him to show her that he was fucking serious. That he was seriously going to make her his own. But that other third… wished he would disappear from existence entirely.
