The sand was warm beneath his hooves today and the soft fall breeze blew over the tops of the dunes lightly. The yellow ocean extended as far as he could see and not a tree was in sight. It wasn't the best place to call home, he would admit, but it was all his. There was no other above him and he could do as he pleased. The stallion followed the mare just a few hundred yards in before stopping. The wind that came of the ocean would keep her cool enough in the heat. Even with the changing seasons the Desert would maintain a temperature of a warm 80 in the fall. He would be sure to keep his band close to the ocean all year round. Pyrate flicked his tail and looked to the golden girl.

She was right; it was a wasteland with hardly anything to graze on. Every here and there clumps of dry grass that were lucky enough to cling to life but other than that, nothing. They would have to sneak into the edge of the Hills to graze or travel to the Commons. Pyrate hoped she wouldn't mind going other places to eat. He figured she would get rather bored here alone anyway. "It's barren sure but like I said you can go anywhere you'd like in the islands if you want." he reminded her. He was the little explorer himself and probably wouldn't be around here much. Maybe one day he could move to a better locale once he gained a larger crew. For now though, this was his home.
