Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Meryl was so happy that Ceal was unlike his siblings when it came to emotions. Really she was a bit more like his mom, able to tell when he was really stressing out. Though Andromeda knew how to bring him right back down to Moladion whilst Ceal just sort of made things easier. He was there when she had been worried about Alcide fighting that challenger, he had assured her he would come out victorious, though he had not been sure, and now Alcide was King of Spirane. She knew what it felt like to have your father, though adopted for Meryl, to run off to battle. Which did certainly help him put his own mind to rest. Was it different though with one challenger versus many? At least fifteen? What if Azrael was ganged up on? It wasn’t like he was the nicest of creatures when he went to Iromar all those times. Surely the wolves there would remember him and perhaps even target him for it.

He was still frowning as she spoke of Azrael, how he was probably one of the biggest and strongest. Maybe he was, he probably was, but still it brought little ease to him. It really mattered about the history he had there. He had gotten bitten up one other time he went there too. ”Azreal is my adopted dad, and he cares about his hair too much, I’m shocked he fights at all for fear of getting dirty.” He paused he knew that he never talked much about his family except his mother and then collectively saying things about his siblings usually.

”Yeah there were lots of warriors wanting to go, I just don’t know why they have to fight at all. Iromar, they are just doing this because they are blood hungry monsters.” Meryl said, his tones bitter and sad. So much pain and worry, it wasn’t like he agreed with what Devil May Cry had done, he would have justice come down on him. Meryl would be talking to Isola if the brute who had hurt Vidar went unpunished. Whatever his reasons where for attacking Vidar’s mother, whatever she had done, Vidar had nothing to do with it.

He was happy for the topic change, it went to work and he was greatful for it. Her home was not going to war, thankfully, though Alcide had offered assistance, they did not need their warriors. Ceal’s family was safe and she did not need to feel the worry like he did and their fighters would not be hurt for Iromar’s childish Queen’s actions too. He looked at the remaining Aloe Vera, happy to hear there was some in Spirane. It was the most basic and most useful healing substance. He would need lots of it, he was certain that there would be puncture wounds galore, along with scrapes and tears. Sadly he would have to leave anything broken to Brooke and the other experienced older healers… He didn’t know how to handle that quite yet. He had been told the theory of what to do, but to actually do it. Meryl would have to be sure to shadow her while she treated anything broken… But hopefully there would be nothing broken.

She was happy to help though, and the tri-colored boy knew she would be. His tail waved as she said not to worry about her, she just had to be back later for dinner and all would be well. Meryl could say the same for him. He didn’t want to make his mom worry more than she had to. He nodded when she suggested they split up. It would be faster yes, but he supposed the faster the worked the more they could just relax and talk later. ”Okay, meet you there then.” He have her a soft smile then grabbed his bag, watching her until she took off and still softly smiling at her. Once she was gone Meryl began totting down the bank and scouring the grounds for any of the stronger growing plants. They could grow nearly anywhere, even in arid areas, but the most ointment producing ones were always near water.

He continued trotting around the water, scouring the area for patches not depleted. Here and there he harvested most of them. Meryl even got lucky and found some poppy plants to take the seeds from. He did not remove them from the pods just yet, and he carefully remembered the location of them. The boy had a lot to do when he got back when it came to preparing it. He had a lot of work to get done, but he still wanted to make the most of spending time with Ceal too.
