Most of the double eyelid surgery are carried out under local anesthesia. Before the start of the surgery, the patients will be given oral sedative and topical a aesthetic cream to the skin where injection of local anesthesia will be given. Most patients find the most uncomfortable part is the injection but with the oral sedative and topical anesthetic cream the discomfort is usually minimal. Postoperative lay the pain is often tolerable and can be controlled with mild pain killer such as panadol. The use of ice compress after the surgery will further minimize the discomfort.
