Boots, Bikes, Boats & Boards for a Cure, Hosted by the Charlottetown Yacht Club, is the first multi-sport relay fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society on PEI.
It is a competitive relay that takes place on land and water, with the final stretch of the race ending at the Yacht Club.
Teams will include a keel boat, kayaker, paddle boater, cyclist and runner, with the baton being passed from one to the next throughout the race.
The friendly competition will end with a dock party that includes a BBQ and entertainment - participants and members of the general public are both invited to attend.
The event is being spearheaded by the Charlottetown Yacht Club and supported by many other community organizations, including Cycling PEI, Paddles PEI and members from the kayaking and running communities.
The Canadian Cancer Society also serves on the organizing committee and is especially excited about the way in which the event promotes good health, recognizing that approximately 50% of cancers can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices.
The event will take place the evening of Friday, September 27th at 6:00pm.
There will also be a BBQ provided by the Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club.
