Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

I will admit to taking some surprise at the girls response, after all, to my knowledge the ancient tongue is reserved only for those of pure birth, the old ways or the Angel line and I am rather convinced that this black pelted imbecile is none of those. Hmm, maybe she was from Iromar, that would explain the black pelt and her apparent inability to actually walk. Demons always were rather unintelligent. After all, I’ve seen one firsthand kidnap a pregnant female against his own Pack’s rules under the idiotic belief she was hungry. Honestly I rarely believe anything my Father says, we never have seen eye to eye and I quite like arguing simply for the sake of the argument, yet when it comes to loners and Demons I will admit that Heyel does tend to be, well, right. Fine, I admitted it, but only to my own mind, I will never say such words out loud, his ego would explode. Even so I returned my attention to the sopping went fool standing in the river. It was winter, did she have a death wish? She was going to die of frostbite before she did anything else and quite honestly I hardly care, her words met with no more then a sneer that saw my lips lift free from the gleaming white of my rather sizeable fangs as I say, curling my thick tail about my paws.

“You have no right to those words and unless you wish to have someone end your existence you’d best keep your blabbering little mouth shut you stupid creature. Those are the words of Assassins and Angels, you are neither, you should never have been taught them. One of your- breeding should stick to the common tongue. After all, it is mainly used by, well, commoners.”

I snorted, smirk teasing at the corner of my lips as I dismissed her entirely. I held no interest in murdering her, what would that achieve save for getting blood on my paws? No, let her walk and speaking a language she has no right too, she will not last long, not if they hear her. Actually I’d find it rather funny if Heyel or Ava found her, perhaps even that silly Queen in Iromar although they may be willing to take inbred riff-raff or whatever it is Wet-Pelt is. I shook myself once more, finding some contentment in the fact that Andromeda is not here, I hardly think she’d like my speaking to another female like this and yet really, when have I ever been able to control my temper? Just another thing to blame Heyel for. Honestly from the way Wet-Pelt goes on you’d think she was a towering giant, I could sit on the silly thing and flatten her. I sighed in exasperation, attempting to release the tension or whatever it is one does when one finds themselves descending into the realm of frustration. Nope, not working. The violet blue of my gaze cut back towards her as my eyes rolled once more. She wasn’t even making sense. I’m scaring the fish? I’m not the one standing in the pond floundering about am I? Maybe she was damaged? Maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on her and yet…..I am still entirely sure I detect frizz. Oh look, now she thinks she’s funny. I scowled as she moved to the bank, flicking her dirty tail at me in a further effort to ruin my pelt although honestly it’s a lost cause by now. Celeste shall be thoroughly irate at that. I lifted gracefully to my feet once more, long limbs sidestepping her attack before I seated myself again to regard her as she spoke a final time, an actual laugh rumbling within my chest as I chuckled.

“So you don’t lie in dirt, you just roll down hills and fall into ponds? My mistake, I took one clumsy act for another and indeed, whatever it is we megalomaniacs do is clearly superior to whatever it is you do, after all, I’m not the soaking wet, dirty, cut up one, am I?”

Maybe if I ignored her she’d just go back to…whatever it was she did in the day. Honestly I don’t really care and the further she is away from me, the better. Can I catch something off her? She might actually be diseased I really don’t know and I can hardly have any of my exceptional children being infected with whatever it is that makes them fall head-first down hills and into freezing rivers. My tail flicked, handsome head turning back to face her once more, softening my tone ever so slightly as if I talked to a petulant child rather than a ranting adult. Honestly I don’t know what’s more deeming, oh well.

“Look, why don’t you go and find some sun or something before you freeze?”

Her mind had evidently already frozen and yet, for once, I was mildly adult, I did not seek to further that conversation despite finding myself wanting to tell her exactly what I thought of her, in both the languages I know. For now, I merely flicked my tail in agitation once more before turning my back to her, moving to work at my hair against, brushing my tongue over my left leg in an effort to smooth it flat and into something more presentable. I may be an assassin, a damn good one at that, but that does not mean I need to look homeless now does it?

“You know, if you apologise, I may even help with your hair. You could use some work in that department, you might actually find a male that way, rather then repelling them with your utter lack of intelligence.”

Apparently I can’t help myself, not even a little bit.
