Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Dusk loved winter. It had been her mother's favorite time of the year and she had learned to love the cold snow just as much as she did. It was soft under the healer's paws and it shimmered brightly in the afternoon sun. Today was surely turning into a lovely day after last night's heavy snow storm. The bright blue sky seemed pure with not a single cloud to litter it. The sun drifted lazily and so far away as it made its way to the west. Dusk smiled and took a deep, icy breath as she felt the day rejuvenate her soul. Things had been a little dark around Diveen lately due to the war and the return of so many injured wolves and it had dragged the healer down. But things were finally starting to turn around with mating season in the air and since Dusk was not pregnant, she didn't have the same responsibilities as many of the other new moms. She was free to do whatever she wanted this winter and still have the love of her family to back her up. Yes, things were certainly going well for Dusk, but it wasn't always like that.

It had been a very long time since the wolfess had last thought about where she had come from. What events had brought her to the here and now? With a sad smile, Dusk allowed her mind to drift back to her younger years when she was just a pup living with her family in Ferrine. Those days felt like so long ago and she had been so carefree with her dear brothers Fenrir and Demetri and her lovely sister Lilis. And of course, there had been Jaye. Dusk remember she had been a kind and gentle mother who was ever protective of her pups. Living in Ferrine had meant that the children didn't have their father to watch them grow. Bahamut, king of Scotavia, had never been in Dusk's life so she only called him father because of blood. But back then, she had wanted to meet him so badly and with Demetri at her side, the two pups wandered into the land of the Scots one fateful, rainy night. That is when the floods came and destroyed her perfect childhood.

Dusk couldn't remember much of the flood but she and her family had been torn apart. Lilis had drowned and Fenrir had been carried to a faraway place. Demeteri had found Dusk only a few short years after the disaster and together they grew up under the caring and watchful eyes of Thunderbone and Boneclaw of Solevion. For years, the two wolves grew up happy and healthy but they thought that their family was dead and gone after the floods. It wouldn't been until much later that Dusk discovered that her mother, father and older brother, Fenrir, had all lived through floods and had been living within Moladion. It was an odd feeling to be with her parents again after so many years and Jaye and Bahamut had even had more pups, new siblings for Dusk and Demeter and Fenrir. But... Dusk had to admit, sadly, that her family didn't feel much like a family. Not after living in Solevion for so long. But she tried her best to accept things as they were. That is until the skyfire... then her family... they were gone....

Dusk stopped at this thought, dark green eyes staring blankly down at the snow. For the first time, the wolfess realized that her bloodline, her family, were gone. Dead. She was the last of a long legacy. Were there any of her blood still alive? Dusk couldn't know that there were a few stragglers such as Tobias and his children. But she would never know this as the world feared the Black Prince and Dusk had never met him and likely never would. So, to her, she truly was alone. Of course, she always had her beloved Sulan and their two wonderful children. They meant the world to her, but it still hurt to realize that her past was dead. With a deep sigh, the dark wolfess shook herself as if to rid herself of the dark thoughts and carried on with her aimless wanderings. There was much in her life now and she just had to remember the good days.

There was a frozen stream a few feet away and it was here Dusk walked to. She sat on the bank and looked down at the sheet of thick ice that covered the flowing river. A small school of brightly color fish swam against the current and Dusk couldn't help but giggle at the creatures. Carefully, she placed her paws on the ice and when she was sure it would hold some of her weight, she began to scratch at and chase the fish. This had been a fun game she and Demmy would play as pups and in memory of him and her family Dusk allowed her inner child to come out again after so many years. With a happy yip, Dusk bounced on the ice and continued to scratch at the fish below. All the while she never noticed the pair of young eyes watching curiously from not too far away. Two wolves would soon meet that were linked by blood...
