Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

This was Sinclair’s first adventure so far from the den his mother, Sinopa had had. He was extremely excited to see the world with his own eyes. Perhaps, if he had been a pup to defy rules, he would have decided on trouncing around on his own long before he was almost one, but he had no interest in being a trouble maker or needlessly worrying Mom. Besides, he knew he was a pup, and while capable of all sorts of mischief, had not been large enough to fend off even an eagle. So today, he felt very self-reliable and infinitely independent. He pranced with high steps and a high head, as if he owned Glorall.

He mostly watched the other wolves interact when he passed them, but then continued on his way to explore. Exploring was much more exciting than fruitless conversation. Sin’s tail wagged when he reached the top of the edge of the beach where the rocks met the sparse forest. He wasn’t sure what all was in the forest at night, but he was sure it wasn’t half as scary as the predators he had heard about that roamed the daytime. Sin lifted his nose to sniff, trying to decipher all the new scents he could detect. Plant life, water, squirrel… and the linger scent of other wolves were all the smells that Sin could place immediately. He couldn’t place, however, the musky aroma of something that made his mouth salivate.

Sin trotted into the trees with his nose close to the ground, trying to copy the adults when they looked for a solid trail. He pretended he found one, and bounded after it. He struggled over huge round, trunks, and dove under scratchy bushes. The foliage rustled in irritation as he rocketed by, frustrated that its sleep was disturbed. Sin grinned and bounded up a short hill, where he stood at the top, looked down to where he could smell the end of Glorall territory. Sin puffed his chest out. He had made it all the way here on his own!

Sin danced on the top of the hill in excitement. The moon’s glow glinted on his silvery coat, as if to congratulate his first victory. Sin decided his adventure warranted a concluding howl, so he lifted his small chin and voiced his triumph to the night. His puppy howl was high pitched and sharped. It wasn’t fully developed yet, though, so it was relatively short winded compared to the adults howl. Sin, however, was very proud of his howl – he had been practicing a lot, and was convinced his hard work was paying off. He had held that call of a whole paw-step longer than he had ever before.

Sin took a moment longer to bask in the lunar light before he skipped down the slow to the edge of the territory. He may as well go all the way to the very edge! Sin paused, however, when he saw the form of another wolf standing at the border. So surprised, Sin immediately was on guard and his fur stood on end to make himself look bigger. “Quis enim es tu?” Sin growled, not really aware that the language he used with his family wasn’t the common tongue of the wolf world. Besides, his first language was Latin, so it was only natural that when surprised, he’d use it.
