News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

Calico schooled her expression, wanting to grin and smile as she normally did but having the feeling that it would only annoy the much bigger male. It was a bad thing to annoy role models, right? And if not role models, the wolves you wanted to be like, at least. She didn't want to be as grouchy as him though like anybody she had changing moods and some days she was a little Heyel with fresh teeth, snapping at others -not the older pack members or her parents because her parents would have her head if she did, of course- or at least snapping at them in her mind. She had quite a temper when she got mad. Her brother, Mako, could attest to this, many times being the cause of that temper. They spared a lot, and Cal won a good 95% of the time though Mako was getting better, thank the gods. Mako was built for speed and agility, not physical confrontation. At least sparring with her gained him some skill to use if he ever needed too.

Cal took after both parents; built for speed and agility but with ample muscles to back her temper up. Already it was clear she was going to be the bigger of the two pups once they grew up, taller and probably heavier than her brother. Until then, she was gangly, too long legs and too big paws almost always tripping her up. Hopefully by three she'll begin to even out, trading gangliness for gracefulness.

She pricked her ears forward when he spoke, cocking her head. She had heard the language spoke by some in Diveen, but not by others. Odd, for sure. She didn't understand the need for a certain sect of wolves to have their own language in their own pack lands, it seemed like an exclusive club to the young girl, and she didn't like it. Well, she didn't like the fact that they could potentially use the different language to talk about something secret out in the open without anyone else being the wiser. So what had Diveen's de facto spy done? Well she'd listened, of course! She eavesdropped on the Latin conversations at least as much as she did the ones she could understand. Why? Because she, for all her short months, was starved for knowledge. And she wanted to know everything that happened around her, never wanting to be caught off guard by anything or anyone. To do this, she had to understand what they were saying when they spoke the different language. She was actually doing quite well, all things considered. From observing their body language and emotions when they spoke, Calico had begun to piece together what some words meant.

She had an idea of what he had said, and when he spoke again she couldn't help the little upturn of one corner of her lips before it left her face. A half grin, simple as that and gone in a flash. She was right. You could almost see the information clicking into place and being filed away in her sharp, dual colored gaze. That was the thing; when he started speaking her eyes had changed. Not in color or anything, but in look. Gone was the puppy playfulness and mischief and the general gaiety that came with being young. In its place were sharp, keen blue and orange gaze turning more owlish, as if she was observing everything and anything, taking everything in and filing it away, almost as if constantly assessing her surroundings and what was going on around her. It was a quick and abrupt change, signaling that while she'd still have the pranking, fun loving personality she did now, she would be clever as well.

She didn't mind his sigh, though an ear twitched, gathering the sound anyway even though it was miscellaneous and might as well be frankly useless info, it went into the sound library section of her brain. "It's actually quite easy, Mister King Heyel." Her voice was different when she was serious, more grown up. "Seeing as there's so much snow on the ground, you can do this," She stood and with a paw pushed snow over the relatively small hole, filling it with snow taken from all around it. She filled it completely because she didn't want anyone accidentally stepping in it and tripping. She took snow from all around so that no patch of ground would be left bare. After a few moments she sat back down, her work done. "When spring comes it will probably grow over and the hole will be no more. Plus, with all the snow, the soil with already be moist and perfect for new growth." She said simply.

While her form was not as wholly white as his, indeed, her base coat may be white but she also had very pale cream and mahogany tones, the light did reflect off her a bit as well though only a small bit in comparison. It made her already unsettling eyes stand out all the more, the left a pale, ice blue, the right a dark burnt orange. At his question she grinned, not being able to help it. She thumped her tail once or twice as she answered. "Sarin's my father and Katsumi's my mother." She didn't think it'd go over well to call them Daddy and Momma as she usually did. For a pup, she was actually quite observant, and knew when to change how she spoke. She wanted the Assassin to take her seriously, so she called them "father" and "mother". If he was a fellow pup, she wouldn't have altered her wording.

"I'm Calico." She gave a friendly little smile, not being able to help it, and nodded her head a little in greeting, officially meeting him for the first time. She didn't say anything more, giving him time to process and come up with something else he might want to ask her. She didn't want to trouble him with unnecessary info. Besides, she wanted to learn to be an Assassin, wanted to be trained and taught by him if he'd have her.

She didn't think pissing him off in the first five minutes would help her chances any.
