Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Spring had come, bringing with it a rush of storms and pounding rain. Devlin moved with measured steps, hunched against the cold and wet. His lips were curled into a sneer, bi-colored eyes staring unflinchingly ahead. His long legs reached for each step as if it might be his last, black claws digging mercilessly into the wet earth.

Things were not moving quickly enough for Devlin. He was starting to get impatient. Devlin had always been an ambitious beast -- but stumbling upon this veritable paradise of darkness had awakened something even hungrier. It clawed from within his belly, bloodied fingers reaching for something ancient and primitive.

Power, greed, lust.. The only three things Devlin had ever known well. Only now, there was an urgency whirring through his mind -- a deep, hungry need for that which he could not attain.

The shadow beast stopped, staring hard through the rain at what appeared to be a lone figure in the distance. His hackles raised without his notice; a deep snarl gathered in his chest, preparing to rise up through his throat..

But his eyes -- with their strange glint of feverish voracity -- remained lit with amusement and intrigue.

He was not particularly prone to physical fights; psychological warfare had always been his favorite tool. But that didn't mean he lacked the sense to be wary of a lone male crossing his path when he was so vulnerable in his singular state.. He would allow the stranger to make the first move, and set the tone for their interaction.

A roll of thunder passed overhead, cracking and rumbling, and Devlin waited.
