Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

I waited, the violet and blue of my gaze held upon the other male, waiting for him to speak, waiting for him to say why it was he had come to these lands. For a moment I allowed the snow caps of my ears to flick and turn, listening to the forest, the trees, listening for any sign of Coza or Amaterasu, the only other wolf to call this land home though some part of myself, perhaps I prideful part I was wrong to hold was pleased that I alone had found this visitor. Perhaps his similar youth gave to myself a confidence I would not hold otherwise, perhaps had he been a fully grown adult male or female I would not have felt so bold and confident within myself, though I believe indeed so much of such a thing is laced within the blood. It is said that those born of Alpha’s are destined to lead in turn, that a need for dominance is as in-born as the shade of eyes or pelt, that those born to Omega’s or lower-ranking parents learn, in turn, to be as such and perhaps in this I take some understanding. If one is raised in a position, one can only be said to learn from it and as such, perhaps it is always so that I have held a confidence and assurance others do not for I know no other way and perhaps, this day, is the first in which I have come to realise such a thing of myself. How is it, truly, that I am perceived by others? I know well I am not given to be as other children, that I am often thought of as too serious, yet indeed there are few who understand what it is, truly, that I must do.

I shook such thoughts from my mind once more as the boy before me seemed to grow only frustrated, a look of confusion clear upon my features as I regarded him once more, shifting upon my heavy paws as my head was given to tilt. To what end did he grow agitated with myself? What have I done to cause such a reaction in another when I have done nothing but offer a greeting? The custom of Spirane is not as that of Iromar, where to speak first holds a notion of weakness, a rule I find inconsistent and futile, just as I find the notion of angelic blood to be awash with loopholes. His mouth moved and yet nothing was given to arise from his throat and indeed for a moment I thought he aimed to make fun at me, my ears folding slightly back in discord and youthful confusion. I am young, so young, how is it that I can know of muteness when not one Angel has ever been as such?- until now, it would seem.

“I…..do not understand.”

I knew not what else to say, his frustration and attempts only adding to my own as I regarded him silently and yet patiently perhaps, curious, in a way only a child can be of such things before his own tail waved and his ears came forward, my own following suit in this regard, as if I looked upon a reflection of myself in this moment, allowing my own large, ungainly form to follow this motion before it as I made the decision to moved forward, stepping down from the grassy knoll upon which I stood, white paws padding atop the grass and damp soil of my forest home as I made my way towards the other young man, extending my muzzle forward, slightly to touch against his own. It is the greeting of Diveen, one hard-wired into myself, a gesture given by Alpha’s to acknowledge respect and equality to those they favour, though I hardly knew it, did not truly understand it as I moved to offer him this before meeting his gaze once more. Perhaps he simply did not like to talk, perhaps he was as the one they call Tobias, the one who lingers like a shadow on Diveen’s borders, searching for that which Mother will not say. Perhaps it does not matter. There is greatness to be had without words and I think, perhaps, were we to lack words entirely, the world would be as it should, not as those whom command such vocals dictate.

“I do not know why you will not speak, but if that is your way, so be it. You are from the mountain pack. I have been there, once, with my companion, we went because there is much I must do as I grow, there is much I must change and because I am blood-tied to that land, my aunts Reyja and Calista live within, perhaps you know of them, perhaps not.”

If he will not speak, then I see no reason why he may not listen and be given to enjoy conversation still. I knew so little of the world, truly, did not understand I stood before a mute, not a wolf who simply chose silence, yet surely I may be forgiven on youthful grounds.

“Do you know of fish? I should like to steal them from the stream near here, though I do not know how. Do you?”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
