aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

the wise wolf

Kohaku's portals quivered when pointed at the crimson and charcoal demon that had haunted her every thought since she was a teen... And when Hellene appeared, dripping saliva and looking as if rabies had infested her soul, and shot words of hate out at the soldier, Kohaku tensed up. If you hurt her... and then the woman turned to the lioness herself and also spoke victimizing lyrics that would have shot anyone else straight through the soul. How can you have feelings for a beast who victimizes pups? Kohaku's neck sharply turned, and dangerous suns glittered at the mother. She knew what she must feel like. Kohaku had once felt the same pain as a youngling whose mother had been killed right in front of her very own eyes. Lips parted to reveal ebony lined ivories sharp and blood tinted. "Nikandros, though a dangerous adversary, would not spill a drop of useless blood. There is no gain behind killing your precious pup. He merely wants a parley." Kohaku was rigid. In fact she was so much so that she was shaking from the strain put on her beautiful bones. And then the worst arrival came into town. She did not wish for him to come. Nikandros's heart would be twisted in all different directions-- he knew not why Kohaku had left his side, though the fatale was sure of her reasoning now, and Kalgalaths appearance would only feed the fire inside of his aqua portals. Her words had been reassured by the soft caress of the phantoms own... And she couldn't bear to breathe. God she couldn't handle it.

When the great ruler did arrive, he came in with his hackles raised and looking every bit the part of a ruler should when his pack members were put under what he deemed to be unnecessary stress. His words too were hateful and full of malice. They made Kohaku cringe inwardly. I see that at least your manners have kept you from crossing my boundary… Yet you have been proven a fool. A very stupid fool. Instantly her heart continued pounding normally. Did he not know that Nikandros was only hers to call a fool? In others' eyes, he should be a prince and nothing else. Kohaku felt herself begin to crank her gears again. She couldn't help it. The door had burst open and thoughts were tumbling through her cranial as caribou speed through a wolfs territory. "Say what you like. I could give a rat's ass about your opinion of me. You're a liar and a worthless one at that. You stand here and tell me she's no prisoner when you had to threaten my life for her to even go to you. The only wolf she needs saving from is you. You claim to care about her and yet you keep her away from the one she loves. Can't you see how much this is hurting her? Look at her, you worthless dog. Look at her tears and tell me who's the monster." Kohaku exhaled quietly and spoke in a whisper to Kalgalath after he nudged her. She had paid no heed to him. His touch had been meaningless, cold and unfaithful. "I did not run from him. If I am no prisoner then I am no longer required to stay here. I sought you out to tame my thoughts, not my heart. I realize that now. And you have managed to put them at ease. You should not be hateful towards him. He is less likely to kill the pup than I am."

His cerulean gaze met her amber suns and Kohaku straightened herself. She flicked her audettes forward as he spoke once more, a novel echoing from his lips."You already know the plan. A trade, the pup for her freedom. You want to seem like the good guy around your pack, the hero of the story but you're neither. You held her here against her will, holding my blood as ransom for her continued 'loyalty.' You're sorry, Kalgalath. If she wanted to stay with you, she would have gone to you willingly. You wouldn't have had to persuade her. At least I don't put a face on around my peers. I don't care what they think of me. I do what I have to. I'm not forcing her to come to me. I'm not saying she has to leave with me now, or ever. I'm saying she has the right to leave if she wants to. She has the right to be her own wolf, with or without your influence. No more threats on my life. If you come after me, I'll hunt you down. If you send any of your wolves after me, I'll scatter them and kill them, one by one. Just try me. I'm trying to keep the peace. The pup's freedom for her freedom. Let her go. Let her cross the borders and be who she wants to be. She's not yours to possess." And with that, Kohaku moved. Quite a crowd had gathered, after all, and this showdown was to be resolved soon or not resolved at all. Her unstained paws tiptoed towards the border, passing the woman who had spit hateful comments at her love, though it did nothing to harm his pride. His ego, untouched, was just as big as ever though her knight in polished ebon armor may not look the part. He was scruffy and his pelt was unkept. Had he... Spent all his time on her? So much so that he no longer cared to carry out the things that he had once took such pride in? A prince indeed.

Years ago, it would appear, Kohaku had returned to the borders, bloodied and deranged looking. Nikandros had greeted her injured body, looking her up and down, his gaze lingering on her soiled scarlet paws. "...didn't anyone ever teach you how to walk right?" Kohaku had laughed and claimed that perhaps she could if he himself would teach her. Now, staring at that desperate look on his palette and meeting it every once in a while when he turned his features to stare at her own... Kohaku couldn't help but bite her lip and pierce the flesh. Words spilled from her metallic tasting mug, her first words to him in weeks... Or had it been months? She couldn't remember. She had refused to count again. The last time she had done that, the clock had started again on something she would have rather not have repeat itself. Honeyed lyrics when there was a pause in the chaos that had enveloped the territory line of Aurora Borealis. "You never did teach me to walk just right, Nikandros."

Kohaku suddenly flew with power over the marked border, her walk no longer an option as transportation. Her wintry heels sent up frozen tundra into the chilly autumn atmosphere as she measured and closed the distance between the two. Step by step she could feel her heart beat getting stronger. Is this what it had felt like to be alive? She hadn't known that while she was in Aurora, she had died somewhat. Been laid to rest in a coffin that she herself had chosen to put six feet underground. Pressure on the little ones back was something she did not want to increase. After all, spinals are broken quite easily, especially those of ones who have not had the time to cover their bones in calcium. But the distance between light and dark had been breached and as soon as she was close enough, a whine, uncontrollable and full of longing, escaped through her barred mug. She put her loud maw up next to his own and lingered there, afraid to touch his body. Perhaps he really would disappear. But when her hot breath curled from his crimson colored palette back to her pale one, disturbed only by a speck of rust, she slid her skull next to his, breaking the barrier between the two mortals. Her pillar swept under the one that he had placed on the little ones back and she put pressure on the underside of it, hoping to raise it up enough for Khaleesi to squirm out.

But she was enchanted at the moment. She couldn't breathe, but her thoughts were flowing naturally. She was no longer overwhelmed with his being in her space. In fact, she welcomed it as one would a soldier who returned home from a long battle. As she had explained to Kalgalath, she could not break the ties that a golden chain put forth round her neck. No beast ever could. He had done naught to damage a single link on that lead, and therefore, her ties to this prince we're as strong as they had been before she had left, afraid of her own will, perhaps even stronger. She stepped closer to him, her ribs brushing against his own. Her tassel couldn't help but wave in the nonexistent gales. Did he know how much she had wanted him to come for her? Nights staring out into the bleak horizon, wondering if he was doing the same... Time and distance apart had only proved one thing to be absolutely, flawlessly true. She loved him. And though it may not conquer all obstacles, Kohaku could feel no emptiness insider her being. It was his presence that presented such a puzzling ideal to her way of life..... And she grasped at it with a sense of unmeasurable need.
