Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

and when you smile...
the whole world stops and stares for awhile..

Kellin hadn't noticed the raised hackles and curled lip, otherwise he might had stopped short or run the other way entirelly. His ears did catch the whine, but he's too immersed in needing his mother close just now. Needing to know she still cared about him, because without that he had nothing here. He did not want to be alone; he was not good with the idea of alone. Maybe he was too old for any of this, but he'd never been allowed to go on hunts or stray far from the cruel little group of vagabonds.

This kept him from growing up properly, and it probably showed by how thin he was, and how terrible he was at hunting for himself. He'd gotten enough to survive on the way here, and he'd shunned the company of the tall wolf who had followed at a distance behind him, so now this was how he looked. Only a quarter of his hunts were successful, and usually it had to be of something small. That did not leave him with a lot of nurishment, but he'd hung on this long, and he would continue to do so the best he could. Besides, practice would help him get better. That, or he'd starve to death. There weren't many options.

Now he just wanted to know his mother still cared about him, still missed him as much as he missed her. Yet that wasn't possible. A part of him knew that just by seeing the other pups, the distractions that Kellin never had the choice to have. He had felt the distance and the ache for so long, and his mother had moved on. Except she did act like she missed him, and he'd almost forgotten his real name until she had screamed it. It was enough, the steps she took to show him she still cared, and that was enough. Kelling was happy with that; beyond happy. He did not think he would ever have the comfort of his mother's embrace again.

Yet here she was, nosing his furs, licking his ears. The flopping around of his tail on the ground only sped up, and he could feel her quivering against the shaking of his own body and when her words came he did feel safe. There was soft whining sounds as he stopped wiggling so much, and when his mother rose up and nudged his chin, he lifted himself on wobbly long legs to let her have a look, trying to shift the fringe from over his one eye so she could see his face unhindered. There was something in mother's expression that made his tail curl under him, his body hunch a little in shame. She wasn't happy anymore? Did he look wrong?

The words of one of the little ones reached his ears but Kellin made no move to speak up in response. He waited instead, noting the silence, and then the presence of someone else there. There were words, and Kellin lowered himself back to the ground and curled up, still attentive to what was going on around him and what was being said. Peering from under his fringe at the others, hearing the other names of the younger ones, and then his own name being spoken. At the sight of her smile and the motion she gave him, Kellin's tail thumped on the ground a little and he got up to settle quietly at her side as requested.

He was glad for being motioned over, still uncertain how displeased he had made his mother by his appearance. He knew he hadn't groomed himself all that well today, so there was that. He was a terrible hunter, and he was sure that showed but the jutting of his bones in places; so maybe she was disappointed with that, too. He'd have to work harder. The scars couldn't be helped, though someday they'd grow fur over them again. For now the closed wounds were too fresh for that, and they stuck out via missing lines of fur. Weird little dark spots, but Kellin couldn't fix that at all. It made him worried, the other pups had unbroken fur..

It was strange to hear that mother and.. Sen -- the name seemed familiar, as did the smell and look of the male, though Kellin was wary, so very wary right now -- had not yet joined the pack they rested on. But they were looking to join, and when his name came up at the joining thing, his head shuffled rapidly in a series of nods. If he could stay with mother, then that would be a welcomed thing. The eye not covered by the fringe of softer, longer fur went from one to the other among the three older wolves, and he waited to be spoken to again or acknowledged at all by any of them, keeping quiet and waiting for whatever was next.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
