The chilly breeze ruffled my white fur. Cringing slightly, I recalled how I'd gotten here. I'd made the mistake of attempting to travel through Romance River hoping to hop on some rocks to get across. All the rocks had been taken by faes, hoping that possible mates would see their fur shining in the light and be smitten. The faes took one look at me, my single grey paw, and stubby tail, and realized I was no competition. No attention was payed to me after that.
That had only reminded me of the reason I'd left home. Instead of looking at rainbows on Rainbow Rock like I'd hoped, this trip was now about me staying here under the shade of a tree remembering my mother's words. "You're not a child anymore Sonnet. You need to grow up, go out, and get yourself a mate. You're an adult. Start acting like it."
That of course had led me to flee to here, which also caused the run in with the strangers that cost me my tail.
I'd been faced with the horrid truth that not everyone intended on being kind to me. "Maybe it is time to grow up." I thought to myself
