Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

the midnight sun that lights the scene

Was this guy for real? All that pity, the worry... Yeah, okay. She wasn't his kid, why would he actually worry for her? Mother hardly even worried for her. But there it was, that glossy-eyed sympathy and, when she had snapped back, oh how he looked hurt! So... dramatic. It was like he was taking her words to heart, like she had physically struck him or something. For such a big male, tough-looking male, his gooey center was easily seen through such transparent fur.

As he proclaimed that she was currently in his pack lands, the dark girl's red wine eyes rolled, chest heaving in a silent, exasperated sigh. Of course she would have stumbled into a pack land. Of course the first wolf she ran into, while she was sopping wet and in a wonderfully horrible mood no less, would be its alpha. And of course she would just have to have offended him... if he were even telling the truth, that is. She still had her doubts.

Whatever; the damage was done. You can't take back words after they'be been said. Best just to keep moving.

Suomi had pointedly ignored the loud groan of her stomach, not caring what the brute of a wolf had to say about it... Well, at first. But what he said next just seemed so laughable, she just couldn't leave that be. Still walking away, she let out a short, disbelieving snort.

"Because everyone who is offering their help so freely doesn't have ulterior motives," she retaliated over her shoulder, tone heavy with sarcasm. "Yeah, oka--yah!"

The ebon girl began to flail the moment she felt his jaws closing in on her scruff, small frame twisting about until her back paws found purchase on his soft, creamy throat. Her small feet kicked at him fruitlessly, a feral little snarl bubbling out of clenched jaws.

"Who the hell do you think you are!? Put me down right now, you mammoth! I'm not going anywhere with you!-" The girl continued to strike out at him with whatever limbs came closest, all the while continuing a loud string of protests. His bargain fell on deaf ears as Suomi was but a ball of black and silver rage between his teeth.

Suomi snapped at the male's paws when he finally placed her down, her flailing legs causing her to fall over awkwardly an miss her mark. The girl scrambled to her feet and backed away from the cream and brown wolf, back arched like an angry cat and the fur along her spine raised in a wet, spiky mowhawk as she fixed him with a dark wine death glare.

Again, he went on with this meal business and she was all about ready to turn tail and run from this creeper, but the scent of fresh - as far as she was concerned - meat struck her a little dumbfounded. The dark girl glanced over to the mangled pig, blinked, looked to the brutish male, to the kill, and back again.

Well, damn. He was for real...

"Yeah, well..." It was hard to muster the same ferocity as before with a free meal actually sitting right in front of her. "Well, you is thinking right." Yeah, she went there.

Suomi took a metered step toward the half-eaten carcass, but stopped short and whipped around to face the male with all her doubt, angst, indignity, haughty temper renewed. "Why are you even doing this, anyway!?" she demanded loudly, her muzzle wrinkling in contempt. "I'm not your responsibility! You're not my father! You're just weirld old stranger I ran into in the woods! And where's your pack, huh!? You said this was your pack, but I don't see anyone else! You're just a creepy old man!"

Too much. This was just... too much. So what? He had literally put her in front of that meal he'd promised. So what? Why? Why should he care? Her own parents didn't even care enough to feed her like that! What was this guy's deal?

She could feel herself beginning to buckle, a suge of emotion racing its way through her veins like three million volts of a well placed lightning bolt. She wanted to... cry. She fought against the pressure that built behind her eyes, clenched her jaws to ward off the burning in her nose from the building tears, but her body betrayed her. Despite the sheer rage on the little girl's wispy silver masked face, the water welled up in her eyes and began to trickle down her damp cheeks.

Today was not her day.

Now I know that beauty truly breaths

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
