At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

It was really cold. Snow was falling, the sun was laying behind the pale fog covering the sky. The brisk air carved holes through the skin and bones of creatures and never giving mercy as they move on to the next victim. White fog covered the small branches higher up within the trees, the breath of other animals joining in the cold air. A gray brute walked through the trees, the towering sentinels of the earth already starting to thin out. The black parts of the brute’s face made the brute stand out within the fog, the traditional gray wolf pelt not identifying him in the wind.

The brute, Zev, was a walking giant, the great claws on the edge of his feet digging into the snow and ice to try and keep the titan from falling. He huffed out a breath, the cool spiral of cloud floating up into the air and sky. The pads of the brute’s toes were almost frozen, small bits of rocks getting into them and they started to bleed. Zev often stopped from place to place to pick away the thorns and pebbles eating away his feet, only to walk again and have smaller sharper ones take their place. Soon, the trees melted away and a field of snow, that usually was sand, opened up to his blue eyes. The great figure of Leisure Lake came up behind it. The water was slowly lapping up on the edge of the beach, the snow melted away into the cold water.

The brute didn’t even want to get in; the cold would wrap around his body and break him down to kill him. He was a younger adult; there was so much more he could accomplish in life. The brute padded along the beach, sitting down by a small curve in the water to do some fishing to set back his hunger. Zev looked down into the black water, the shadows moving themselves and not giving way to anything more. He lowered his body so the glare of the dim sun wouldn’t catch his shadow in the water. The flicker of the smaller fish darted out just a little bit farther than the titan’s reach, so he moved his great body around closer, practically pressing his face down to the ground. A quick reflex flashed within his mind and his paw lashed out into the water. From the small exposure he faced, his paw went numb, the biting of the cold ripping through him and sending the sharp shiver up his spine multiple times as his sharp claws met gamey flesh and locked in onto its spine.

He pulled his paw out of the water, the fish getting out of his grasp and flying towards the snow. It hit the ground half a second later, the folds of Zev’s ivories bending into its watery flesh and folding around the bones that held their own grip on his paws. The taste of the gray animal flew down his throat, sending the hunger in his stomach quivering back into the recesses of his body. He peeled back its spine, the pink flesh looking cold and bitter as he started to feed. Another breath of wind sent him flinching, the safety of his den far away. His ice blue orbs looked out over the water, the scent of the fish already drifting into the brisk air.
