Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The storm raged one around the three wolves. The wind beat against their fur relentlessly with the sharp sting of freezing ice. Perhaps the two females did not feel the bite of winter, but Iblis felt an involuntary shiver run down his spine with each gust. His fur kept him somewhat warm during the lighter parts of winter but standing in the middle of the blizzard made the male feel as if his fur weren't even there. He tried to listen to the other girl, Purge, but it was hard to concentrate over the rattling of his bones and the pain in his paw. Rhae remained behind him, ever silent and watchful. The guardian of his soul kept her dark eyes upon the stranger as she spoke and Iblis felt her muscles tense up. She was ready for anything and though Iblis may not be able to fight at his full potential, it would be hard to keep the pair off. Purge continued to speak and Iblis felt the situation lighten slightly. This wolfess was not of Iromar hand had yet to pose any sort of threat against the imprints. Iblis felt the adrenaline leave his body and the sharp sting of his fresh injury returned. Gazing down, he lifted his paw and saw his own blood litter the snow. How deep was this damn cut anyways? Another burst of cold wind caught Iblis off guard and he stumbled a bit before leaning against Rhae.

Though Iblis didn't like to admit it, Purge was right. He needed to get out of the storm, but it would be unwise to lead this stranger back to their den. Not with Gaia and Cae hiding within. The pups were born in a world of danger and Iblis would die before they were thrust back there again. It was good that the pups were old enough to know to stay in the den when Iblis and Rhae were gone. They were safe, but the same could not be said of their father. The cold was sucking away his energy faster than his body could produce and if he stayed in the blizzard any longer he would die. Funny how that worked. Two of Iromar's deadliest wolves, Lillith and Adras, couldn't kill the lone warrior. But winter could stop his heart dead within a few hours. Iblis chuckled at the thought. His eyes gazed up at Rhea, feeling some of the strength returned to his limps just at the sight of her, and he gave a slight nod of his head. She would need to take control of the situation for now. The trust he had for his beloved mate was held true by the love and bond they shared. If she said jump, Iblis would only obey. If she said kill, he would not hesitate. That was the power Fate had given to Rhae the moment Iblis laid eyes on her. No once had the female abused that power.

"I think you may be right, Purge. This cold is not good for any of us and we best find a place to wait for it to pass. Our den is still miles away, to the north of here. We may not make it. It would be best to find a place close by." Iblis said above the howl of the wind. He had outright lied to Purge. The location of their den was in the opposite direction, hidden deep within the Enocra Woodland. Knowing Rhae would catch on, Iblis stared towards the north, or what he thought was north, and began to move in that direction. "Maybe we can move towards there and find a place to lay for a while." He had been talking to his mate more than to Purge. It was by no means an invite for her to follow, but the warrior had a feeling she would follow anyway. Whether they wanted her to or not. In this storm, Purge had the advantage. Like a ghost she could melt into the snow and she could watch from afar or attack at any given moment. Iblis knew this was a wolf they needed to watch out for. With a grunt, he limped towards the north with his beloved mate at his side. And a deadly wraith at their back.
