Kha's life had been going relatively well for a while. She had made some new friends, and was even given a rank and mission in hardly a week after joining Abendrot. Though, not everything was as it seemed... Kha learned to be careful of what she wished for. She had just hardly gotten over the loss of her beloved mate Thorin when her new alpha had ordered her to kidnap him for his latest evil scheme. Somehow the mighty Kershov had found what she could not, and it tore her apart. Her insides lurched every time she heard his name or saw a varg who resembled him. Her heart ached painfully as if her entire chest cavity were empty or frozen, after all that time apart she was given his exact location and was to go without good intentions. She didn't think she could do it. She didn't trust in her ability to deceive Thorin and ultimately lead him to torture. But then again, could she disobey her alpha? More specifically, the most relentless and vengeful alpha in Blossom Forest. For lack of a better word, Kharress was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Still, she made to begin her journey and told herself she would come to a decision along the way when she could have some alone time to really mull it over.

Well, push came to shove and when faced with Thorin again, she broke. His childlike, naive, hopefulness and unwavering adoration for her after all that time, after she had failed to raise their adopted pups... how could he still love her? She had hoped he would resent her, as it would at least make her job easier. She was accepted into Abendrot after all, wasn't she supposed to be forceful and emotionless? Well that's just it, she was supposed to be... but she's not. How could she be with the face of her lover staring her down, after months apart? Months of dreaming he was still looking for her, months of searching, crying, begging. Months of wondering what she had done to deserve losing the best part of her life, the best part of herself.
Their meeting was short, it was almost too much to handle. She spoke to him of what Kershov had instructed her as she silently lead him off track - away from the imminent danger. The look of pain and betrayal in his big doe eyes was the final blow. The last tug her faint, charred heart could take before collapse. She didn't even both to explain. How could she? Why try?

So she left.

With her missing in action, Kershov would have no lead on Thorin's new location. The hardest decision she ever had to make was worth it as long as he was safe in the end.
At least that's what she's told herself all these months. She's spent so much time away, and now she's back. But for what? She doesn't quite know actually. Perhaps to find him again? Or maybe a fresh start is in order.

Please just give me a break, make it better this time... third time's the charm, right?
