Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

A heart on fire is hard to catch
Nootau was thrilled to see Flicka’s eyes light up when she saw him! How awesome was that? He had waited a long time for such a friendship with someone. She watched him approached jealously and then greeted him with questions. Oh great! He had no idea, but he couldn’t say that right? No, he could. Why did he not want to? Nootau thought he might own it, but then Flicka called him a dancer! Wasn’t that like a… gypsy thing? Nootau wasn’t sure if it was a compliment or not, but since Flicka seemed to highly regard the “talent,” he took it kindly, though now we was all sorts of nervous. He had to live up to that expectation now? Great.

Nootau chuckled at her, finding it hard to believe in her puppy clumsiness that she was any sort of smooth. He supposed he could test her out – if she ever was able to get off the ice now that was stopped in the middle of the river with him. It’d be a lie to say he wouldn’t be thoroughly entertained to see her try. And what do you know? He was given the pleasure of seeing her attempt to stand. She slid a little ways away from him and then she slipped and fell onto her behind again. He wagged his tail with amusement as she continued on after being forced to sit again. So, she did get grounded. No wonder she hadn’t been around. But him, a silly boy?! What kind of impression was that? A silly dancer boy. Good reputation to unhold, right? Nootau frowned and then shrugged to himself. He supposed he could roll with that – it was better than Kane’s pretty-lovely-boy reputation.

But hang on. She was blaming him for this? She was the one who ran so far away from Spirane! And him teach her to dance? Nootau thought for a moment what big tourble he was in because he actually didn’t know how. But, well… it couldn’t be that hard to reproduce and teach someone, since it had come so easily to him. Still, as if he’d stand for being punished! “You wish. I’m not doing any--” Nootau began as Flicka started scoot towards him and attempt to stand. He was cut off when she slipped towards him! Whoa!

Nootau felt her collide into him (for he hadn’t had any time to react). He fell onto his side with Flicka sprawled over him. They slid across the ice a ways before Nootau had the time to register what had happened. He shook his head and after realizing, he laughed at Flicka’s clumbsiness and at their self-made catastrophe and turned his head to looked at Flicka, to see how she had fared the fall and observe how she had landed on him. “Right now, I think dancing it a little ambitious. Maybe walking first,” Nootau said through jubilant chuckles as he turned to focus on her again.
