where are we suppose to go; Saffron

It had been a long time since he had stood on the Castle grounds.

It was the early evening, the moon’s silvery grasp stretched across the lawn. He glanced towards the barn, an area that he once frequented to see Tristan and his gallant steed. A delightful smirk graced itself on Grayson’s lips. He’d realized long ago he’d probably never become anything more than a stable boy, he wasn’t of noble birth like his friend but he did dream big. But big dreams didn’t mean anything if they didn’t have the goals and the heart behind them, which he most certainly did.

But he didn’t feel the pull to the sable as he once had; instead he looked towards the castle with its ominous shadow cast down towards his feet. When they came to live here it had been a dream come true, but a dream he eventually left for the bothersome thoughts of his mind. He’d done it once before, go look for their mother and with no success. And this time proved much the same. He had heard word of a fiery red headed woman that visited the cove, so he went there, and stayed for probably far longer than he should of. And slowly he had made his way back to the castle, exploring the land, visiting the Academy, and even the majestic Pantheon.

But like all journey’s, they must eventually come to an end. It took a lot of heart to bring him back to the castle, to come back without any sight of his mother, to come back empty handed to his sister. Whom he knew would be pretty upset with him regardless, he’s left so sudden, Tristan and Thoth hadn’t even known he left nor why. It was quite childish to do. But they had abandonment issues and he had sprinted at the idea of being able to reunite their family.

His green eye’s fell upon a window, one he had known would be his sisters. The soft flicker of candlelight said she’d be awake. Era nudged up against him. She knew just how difficult this would be, and knowing his sister, she’d probably be made at the little dog for letting him go in the first place. After all, Saffron knew well enough that the dog was the brains between the duo, that was no secret.

But Grayson couldn’t find the courage to move. After all he’d left her, just as mother had left them. After everything they had been through he was no better than, if he had found her things might be different but he hadn’t. Plus, who was to say she wanted to be reunited with her children anyways. Saffron had helped teach him to read and to write, things he hadn’t been able to focus on until she was able to sit down with him and teach him in a way he understood. Even though she was just his little sister, she was much more than that.

He felt Era head butt the back of his knees, pushing him to go forward. And with a deep sigh he finally did. Grayson swept across the silver laced lawn and found himself at the front doors to the castle, two guards barely recognized him but eventually let him in.

Down the corridor he went, up a flight of stairs, he zigged this way and zagged that way until he found the door with the flickering candlelight behind it.

one. he counted.
two. he cringed.
three....

He knocked on the door
