apollonia
If we worked together we could probably catch something bigger than the smaller stuff we would get on our own. Maybe even a small deer! I’ve only eaten smaller stuff like rabbits for a while now. Apollonia nodded her head – it had been the same for her, although she had managed to take down that first fawn by herself. It had not been an adult and it had been weak, so that was different. The topic had then changed to her father… I’m sure he’ll return. He seems like a tough guy and won’t let anyone stop him from coming back, especially when he has you waiting for him. His accompanying smile was meant to be comforting, but Apollonia just wanted to stop talking about her father. In her mind, he had abandoned her, or perhaps betrayed her. She had needed him and though he was surely injured, she wanted his company and would have helped him heal in any way that she could. He was her Daddy and she was Daddy’s little girl. Or so she thought.

Conversation continued, and then play ensued, but then the conversation reverted back to food, and fishing came up. I’ve never fished before, so we can go wherever you’d like, but you’d need to teach me to fish if we did that… He then complimented her previous hunting, revealing that he had never hunted on his own before. Apollonia smiled at him. “I prefer hunting with other people anyway. Hunting alone is lonely and not as much fun. If you want I will teach you how to fish! It is pretty hard when you first start but then it is easy to do!” Laughing, she continued on her way down the cliff and then took off, running toward the river. Though she had never actually gone to Romance River for the reasons that all else did – for romance – she had gone there many times for fishing. The river was long and winding, and had various areas that were shallow, allowing for standing within the river and fishing at the same time. It was chillier, seeing as winter was well on the way, but it would be worth it. She loved the taste of fish…

On the way to the river, she slowed, allowing Mezic to catch up. “Sooooo I figured I would explain fishing to you before we get to the river. Most wolves don’t like fishing because they can’t understand it. The reason it is difficult because the way that light reflects off of the surfaces makes it look like the fish is in a different position. So you have to take into account where the sun is – if it is behind you it will look like it is farther away than it actually is. However, it is in front of you, it will look like the fish is closer to you than it actually is. Aside from that, you just have to get a feeling for it. Any questions so far?” She paused in her step and looked at him, smiling, waiting for his response. Afterward, she took off again and didn’t stop until they reached the area surrounding Romance River. Looking at all of the couples who were adorably cuddling, and then the lonesome single wolves, Apollonia smiled. She had just recently reached the point in her life where hormones were entering her system and had began to develop feelings. In fact, she had developed feelings for a certain kalik that she had met upon Misty mountains, but she wouldn’t mention that to Mezic. She wouldn’t mention it to anyone just yet – he was her secret.

Hunching toward the earth, she practiced her skills by sneaking around all of the couples, her form sliding silently through the reeds that lined the edge of the river. Once she reached her favorite fishing area, she stopped and entered the river gingerly, her paws freezing immediately. Biting her lip, she waited for Mezic to follow her before beginning to fish.
