At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

His fear was eating him alive. Blood started to smear against the ice as he starved to get through the tiny parts that were a dull red. The pain was numb, having that they had been digging and sifting through snow and ice for the past couple of minutes. Had it really only been minutes? Zev held his breath, putting all of the energy he got from the inhale of the air into the strength and power of his claws. Please, no. Was the only thing he could really ever think about going to disappear before his eyes? Suddenly, the ice cracked, the white fur of the girl coming out of the water, appearing to be standing. Of course he didn’t realize this, already pulling her towards the snow. But she was leading him away from the frozen lake underfoot, which was an impossibly good idea as Zev was probably going to fall through before Athene ever did. It was just that he made it out there first. His breathing was hard, the words of her name the only thing that was coming out of his body. He pushed himself towards her, a great nuzzle that threw his whole body over her in a nice blanket. Zev was just trying to warm her, keep her standing so he could push his body and warmth through her bitter bones. The glitter seemed all too evil. However, they fell down into a mess, the brute almost in tears as he apologized for everything that was going through his mind. He almost lost her; what could he do?

Then, the sudden pull of her body upward left him hanging, left him desiring for more, craving for more and wanting more. More. More. More. The titan almost let her die, almost let the expanse of the cursed lake take her body and play with it within its depths, the fear sparking up inside of him once more, fueled with an emotion he did not know. Something that he did not understand. Athene jumped up away from him, folding back her auds onto her head and smearing her eyes. The brute was about to push towards her again, but something stopped him. His auds flickered and the irises in his eyes grew horribly wide, wide with the pain and fear of what she was going to say. “Athene?” But the words she thrust towards him were so much more powerful than a strike he could ever blow.

““Stay away from me!
Go now, you’re free.

Never return to my sight
or else your form I will smite.

Leave me alone… ”

Zev almost fell to the ground, but the mere coldness and the caked blood between his claws held him upright. Her next words came as a whisper, but he didn’t recognize them as the fear he had been dreading leaped away from the cold and into him. His body turned freezing, the cold now all too familiar and numb, the light in his day smoldered by the flash of a ball of snow. Zev watched the fae ahead of him, his tongue twisting in his mouth and trying to form the words he knew was there, the words that reclused back into his mind hiding from the truth that it didn’t want, that it never wanted. She began to bound away. It took a moment before the brute ran after her, screaming out the words pouring from his mouth like the blood of the deepest flesh wound his heart was capable of holding. “No...NO! Athene, please. You did not hurt me, you fell through the ice and I had to save you! You can’t leave me, God dammit! You can’t leave me alone, alone to the fears and the horrible nightmares I have at night because of losing you! You can’t run away from me, you can’t...... no.......you....Because, Athene, I lov-” The howl of a storming wind masked the words pouring out of his mouth from view, the sound penetrating the air into silence. Snow whirled around his frame, his body falling, his heart broken. But, when he looked up, the beautiful wolf from his dreams was gone.

The wolf fell to the ground. The snow moved around him and layed on his body, the songs of the glitter failing to reach his ears and into his mind. The brute sat lumped on the ground, the mounds of snow of the coming storm passing over his head. His body looked dead, the warmth and everything receding into the ground, the snow around him. He should have died, right then and there, the pain and loss inside of him already starting to eat him alive. No, not his body failing before him; the brute was so much too healthy for such a thing so soon. But his mind was broken. He lay there for hours, the afternoon light hiding the foot high pile of snow above him. Though, the wind had stopped, brought on the dead end of a white world. But no. There was one last gust of breath the world could offer him, sending the chill of a scent lingering carefully up his nares. If it was too fast, it would be gone. But the scent hesitated in his mind, the tingle of recognition awakening the fibers of his essence once more. It smelled of her, it tasted like her. The titan’s head slowly moved up from the snow, the fluffy powder palling off of his features into the wind that had returned. Was it? Could it be? The scent of a sister washed over the breeze.
