aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

She seemed hesitant to leave Kong, which I understood, but Kong needed time alone. After being on his own trying to deal with his broken heart, it was probably more painful to see Kalgalath and Zig together than being alone. Kong was back… but his heart wasn’t healed yet. It wouldn’t be healed for a long while yet. But perhaps he would find love again, when he least expected it. Still, she left with him, walking next to him, no doubt there to support him should his gait fail. Every once in a while, she closed the gap between the two of them, intermingling her coat with his own. Each time she did, the King turned slightly to look at her affectionately. As the snow began to fall, he paused and watched her catch a few flakes of her own on her pink tongue and he enjoyed simply watching her. Watching her interact with the world. As the storm approached, she brushed against him again and they resumed their voyage to their den. Crossing the frozen stream was troublesome, and though it was exhausting to slip and slide across the ice, it was worth it in order to hear the laughter that erupted from Zig’s maw, and then to see her graceful form almost float across. Kalgalath raced back to the den and had waited for her within the warmth of their grove.

It was almost with an impatience that he awaited her entrance. She did it slowly, almost teasingly, creeping her way through the branches. As soon as even the tip of her nose emerged, his icy blue gaze fell upon her and once she saw him, she blushed and averted her orbs. When she again lifted them to look upon him, it was as she was curling up in the middle of the den at his paws. Folding his limbs, he curled around her, his large form completely encompassing hers. A purr formed in her chest and it reverberated against him. His head snaked around to lay over her withers, his maw reaching her auds. Allowing his tongue to escape, it slithering up her neck and curled around her pinnae. It was sore to lay upon the earth, even moreso to lay on the ground even though it was softened by the bed of needles and leaves. But the pain was the farthest thing from his mind. All that he could think of was all of the love that he held for Zig. His mate. His love.

I’m so sorry that I have been absent, dearest. And I’m sorry that the battle took me away for so long as well. I’m sorry I have not been the best Alpha… or the best mate. I will do better. I will protect you, I swear it. I love you with all of my heart and soul, Zig.” Images passed into his mind of how their life should be – happy. They should have a family. Not just one that bounded them together, but one that they made together. “Zig, to be honest I was never sure how you would react when I adopted Blayre. You and I had just recently just started developing feelings for each other. I didn’t know how you would take it. But I was overjoyed when you took her into your heart. But now I want to breach something to see you and see how you feel about it.” He paused, roping his neck over hers and drawing her against him. Dropping his deep voice to a whisper, he continued. “I want pups, Zig. I want your pups, my love.

It may have been an inopportune time to breach the subject. He had only just returned, and was injured to boot. They had been separated essentially for months, between him dealing with Kohaku and then watching over Blayre, he had not seen Zig aside from sleeping next to her on the occasional night he actually slept. They certainly had had no alone time together. But the fight had revealed to him something important indeed – life was dangerous and could be shortened to the brutal end at any point. If now was not the proper time to speak, then when was?
