Midas held back the feeling of shock that hit his body as Spartan actually stood up for him. Of course he had won the mares fair and square and this Reisis guy hadn’t even been in the picture. Spartan had said not to mess with his allies – and Midas hadn’t, and he had won the battle against Razvan.

At least Razvan had been a man and stood up to Midas. It had been a close fight too, an honorable guy. Midas wished he could see the blue roan again just to talk to him, Sahara needed him now more than ever. Spartan was a good guy and in all honesty – this did not concern him at all. Reisis had wrongly tried to force him into the situation, which left Midas shocked and angry.

Notes were for cowards. Midas would never take a man who didn’t come in person seriously, Reisis hadn’t even tried to contact him personally before coming to Spartan. Midas found that incredibly rude and quite cowardly. -2 points in respect there. His eyes shifted to Reisis then, the man obviously about to blow a gasket, “I replied to your note, offered a deal, which you refused and tried to make me accept your first, which I already turned down, I felt no need to reply again.” He said flatly, his lack of English making his sentences seem repetitive.

When Reisis started his soliloquy Midas was absolutely shocked and for the first time, truly glad he had gotten the mares away from this raging lunatic. Midas could not process the fast angry words the stallion spoke so quickly so he just shrugged nonchalantly, “I got about two words of that.” He said to Spartan in a sort of sarcastic joke. Reisis was already walking away. “But I know you should never have been in the middle of this.” He directed his speech to the chocolate palomino. “I am truly sorry for that.” He looked into Spartan’s eyes and lowered his head slightly in submission.

“I think he’s overstayed his welcome.” He jabbed throwing his head in the direction that Reisis had walked. “and if you think it would be best for me to move on, I can try to put arrangements in place.” He hoped that Spartan would not throw him out – no he knew the man wouldn’t but Midas did not want Spartan to harbour any regret or resentment towards Midas so with that comment, he was giving the stallion a way out if he so wished. Shifting his weight, Midas felt the drama in the air, it was so thick you could have cut it with a knife. A half year ago the Quarry had been dead and quiet, now it was teeming with activity, and not of the peaceful kind. Sighing, he rested the weight of his head by lowering his neck. “Spartan, what do you think I should do?

Was the golden boy beginning to trust the man? Something he had never previously done? It seemed like perhaps he was starting and at any case, he respected Spartan a lot, and the man’s opinion meant so much to the golden boy.
