Torram's heart had picked up its pace a bit with his nerves, so much so that he was a little pink in the cheeks. Their conversation was utterly normal, for two teenagers at least, but for some reason Torram felt... well, equally excited and terrified. At least Alethea wasn't overwhelmingly scary for a girl. She seemed quite nice, and friendly, and Torram mentally shook himself. Relax, Tor, she's just a girl... he tried telling himself, but it didn't help much at all when he was looking at her. So, trying to save himself a bit, he tried to focus his attention on a point just above her head. He failed miserably, of course, but he tried.

"I can understand that," Torram said with another shy smile. He, too, was often distracted though, much to his guardian's dismay, it didn't seem to matter whether he was indoors or outdoors. When a thought grabbed him, particularly a thought that required some contemplation, he ended up lost in it for a long time. Well that was the case when there weren't exceptionally pretty, nice young women around to distract him, at least. Though he'd noticed her dishevelment, and was curious about it, he found it... well, to be honest (and much to his dismay), he found it rather attractive. Too many of the young women he'd met, his twin sisters Anhi and Verann included, would rather die than be caught in anything less than perfect condition. That fact had always been funny to Torram's mother, who was a rather unconventional lady herself. His fingers tingled a little where they held the branch, as if alighting briefly on her hair had been enough to send a little bolt of electricity through them. What a ridiculous thought, he mentally muttered, but his fingers didn't stop. She seemed a little distressed by his touch - something Torram attributed to his forwardness rather than anything else - and comment. She explained she was more of a lady, blushing all the while in a way Torram found adorable, and he nodded awkwardly. He wanted to add something to that line of thought, but latched on to her next question instead.

"Oh, I just... don't know how things work, here. Where I'm from, the King was pretty..." Torram shrugged hesitantly. His father's brother wore the crown and had for many years now, but the power had changed him more than most people realized. Torram remembered his uncle being a fun-loving man with a booming laugh and sparkling brown eyes; the shell he had seen on his last visit to Court had been a much different person, and he'd kept his library selfishly guarded. Torram had snuck in, once, and being no master thief he'd been caught almost immediately. It hadn't been pretty.

When the wolf nosed her way into the library, Torram focused on her with interest. Part of him was inclined to be even more nervous - she was a wolf, after all - but part of him had to admit he was a little relieved to have a chaperone. Maybe she would be able to keep him from doing something dumb again, like touching her hair. Or worse. Torram blushed at the mere thought.

"It's nice to meet you, Leto," Torram replied when Alethea made the introductions. He lifted his eyes to Alethea, some comment about familiar's on the tip of his tongue. But then, unbidden, he blurted, "Your eyes are very pretty. Uh..."

His eyes widened, his blush deepened. That hadn't been what he'd meant to say at all!! Had he been alone, he probably would have gotten busy smacking his head on the table, but instead Torram squirmed in his chair and, hoping to undo whatever potential damage he might have accidentally done, he quickly answered her question.

"Uh, well my guardian Birch and I live in Olive Grove now but we were on the beach before," belatedly realizing that she probably meant before she came to Shaman, he added. "We were on my Grand Tour before coming here, so we kinda lived all over the place. Have you always lived here?"
