Susil Crags

Disaster has struck!
The Crags are a series of rocky formations with small caves and crevices throughout. Many of the lower-lying areas of the Crags have been flooded, however, with water pouring in from the Northern stretches of Moladion. Some paths have been completely submerged, and some are nothing more than a few rocky peaks sticking out of the water. The water is fairly slow moving but begins to pick speed up towards the Grotto, becoming a series of intense rapids and waterfalls as it nears the Grotto's entrance.

The area itself is still traversible. However, it can be risky. Large amounts of debris can enter the waterway, creating bridges at times but also creating dams that break and cause ocassional flash-flooding. Be careful, travelers! One wrong step and you could end up finding out where the water goes.

The white and grey wolf picked his way across the rocky terrain, his surefooted paws carefully judging each step. The young canine was equipped for this sort of terrain and it made him feel at home, almost, as if he was back in the mountains where he was born. The warm summer twilight wasn't quite the right time to be climbing around in, and if Nord had it his way he'd be settling in to sleep now, but that wasn't how things worked. This whole journey thing was a stupid idea- the leggy wolf cursed himself mentally- and he'd no idea why he ever thought it would be beneficial. Nord had a good life with his mentor back in the foothills of the mountains where he grew up, and he had just- up and left, just like that. Well, not quite. His mentor had told him to go, actually. It was a self-discovery sort of thing, and apparently the old brute had been fed up with Nord sitting around. He couldn't blame him, really, ever since the avalanche...

Lost in his thoughts, the lithe wolf almost slipped on a rock and tumbled over. But he caught himself, thankfully enough, avoiding embarrassment and perhaps something more serious. He had to pay attention! Even though he was used to navigating this sort of terrain he still had to focus. Nord blinked his ocean blue eyes and continued to make his way across the crags, his grey paws carrying him steadily across the terra. He spotted a flatter area and jumped down onto the grass, landing with a soft thump. Nord looked around, checking to make sure that he was alone. A rock hung over the little hollow, and the shelter it granted was about as good as he was going to get. Luckily the weather was good so the shelter wasn't really necessary, but hopefully it would hide his sleeping form from any nasty creatures that would look to harm him.

He wasn't quite ready to go to sleep yet, though. He hoisted himself up on top of the overhang, sitting on top of it and watching the sun as it set over these new lands. A warm breeze stirred his thick fur, useful up in the mountains but rather inconvenient in the summer heat. Sitting atop the overhanging rock had him looking in the direction he had come from. He had walked so far... He couldn't even see his mountains in the distance now. He guessed that they belonged to the snow and ice now. No one lived there anymore... his ears laid flat against his head as he thought of the tragic day. It was less of an open wound now, more like a dull throb, but he missed them... Nord cursed the avalanche that had swept down from the mountain peak and destroyed his whole pack. His family and everyone he knew, all gone in that split second. He was lucky to have survived, but at times wondered why he did.

Nord wondered what his mentor was doing. Probably already long asleep. Nord chuckled. That old bat always did turn in rather early. At least he had found solace with the old male. The dual coloured wolf didn't know what he would have done had he not found him. He watched as the first few stars appeared in the sky. At one time he had believed that the stars were the mountain spirits that his pack had believed in, but they had been silent since that day. He was the sole survivor of the pack and when he was lonely he tried to talk to them, but they never answered him. Nord still believed that the mountain spirits guided his paws just like they had guided his ancestors'.

Now he just had to figure out why they had kept him alive. He looked at the stars and whispered quietly, "Please tell me what to do." The quiet plea was pathetic, perhaps, but it made him feel a little bit better. Maybe they heard him. Maybe they would give him some guidance. But they were silent.
