News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Things in Spirane were finally beginning to fall into a routine. the days drew out listlessly from sun up to sun down, and a sense of normalcy began to settle into my heart. But there were many things on my to-do list... mainly matters of the Heart. I was the Atlas to the World that was Spirane. Without me, ties began to fray, and responsibilities that Alcide could not fill were left unattended. He did a fantastic job as an Alpha and doting father, but he simply had no way of filling the spaces only a Mother could.

I was certain that there were a lot of gaps and inconsistencies in young Daenerys' life. She was probably confused and most certainly hurt by the fact that I had left her so soon in her little life. I'd always known the path of the Shaman was not going to be an easy one. There was a reason we were not meant to bear children or take mates, and this was the exact reason. I could not be in two places at once. I could not be two wolves at once. And it wasn't just I that suffered. Alcide knew what he was getting into when he took me for a mate. He knew there was a very slim chance we'd ever produce cubs. He knew that there would be times when I could not be at his side... but he'd made his choice of his own free Will. He knew the pros and cons and he chose me anyway... and I don't think either of us have ever regretted it.

But our Children... They had no say in the matter. They were little miracles, every single one of them. But they had no choice in their parents or their parent's careers. It was not fair that they should suffer. And suffer they had. I know they do not speak of it, but I know it was a direct result of my absence that Swallowbane is no longer where he should be. I was not an attentive mother and he grew bitter, resentful, and channeled that anger onto his parents and family and even at times his imprint.

I could not make that mistake again. I could not let my precious Danaerys suffer. She was young, impressionable, and her mother had left her at such a tender... delicate age. I wanted more then anything to turn back time and do it all over again, to be the doting mother she deserved. Certainly now she was confused and more then likely hurt by my absence.

The many days I've been home, I've watched her from afar. Watched as she played with her elder sister Ceal and brothers Taliesin and Leonidas. I was so proud of what I saw. She carried herself with pride and confidence. She was young, but so very intelligent! Sometimes I'd overhear her conversations and my heart would swell to the point of bursting with some of the things she said... so much of her reminded me of my own mother, Boneclaw. And how, (Oh How!), I wished she were still alive to see her grandchildren now. She hadnles herself with purpose and with caution where it was warranted.

I was happy to see that Ceal had been such a good sister, I'll never regret taking her in as a tiny cub when we first came to Spirane. She'd looked after little Danny while I'd been away and she would forever be etched into my heart for it. But there was something about that boy, Leonidas, that gave me a bad feeling in the pit of my gut. His eyes constantly followed the figures of the young girls in the pack... leering at them with a sense of possession that was unbecoming for a youth his age.

Particularly the way he watched my daughter. I didn't care for it, and had felt it necessary to give Orba orders to keep a close watch on his whereabouts and actions.

But today was not for him. Today was the day I needed to bridge the gap and rekindle the bond between mother and daughter. I watched her now, my little silvery-blue zephyr that was Danaerys.

I was thankful that today the stars seen fit to align and Danny spent her time alone; Ceal off tending to other things and the boys rough-housing further down the mountainside.

She plays by herself today and my lilac eyes watch her with a potent tenderness as I step down from the cragged throne of stones I had perched upon to watch in silence from afar. I approach her slowly, and for the first time in ages, I felt as awkward as a teenage girl. What do I say? Where do I start?

"Ahem," I cleared my throat delicately, eyes riveted upon my youngest child, my heir. "Daenerys?" I speak her name in reverent tones, half afraid to speak such a word aloud for certainly I haven't earned the Right. "I... I have missed you, my baby girl."

I couldn't believe that in front of my own daughter I could not hold my cool. Something about her disarmed me in a way no other wolf ever would. I stuttered on the syllables, cursing myself on the inside for not thinking of anything better to say.
