There once was a gathering of wolves,
Some were big,
Some were small,
Some were sick,
Some were healthy,
Some were strong,
And some were weak.
The strong and big said to each other,
Let’s rule over the small and weak,
Because we are greater than they are,
And while they are as numerous as the stars in the sky,
We are as mighty as the sun which chases them away.
So they rose up in arrogance,
And oppressed the weak,
They shackled the small,
They executed the sick.
For a hundred years they dictated,
From seats of power,
With bulging bellies,
and grotesque egos.

On the hundredth day,
Of the hundredth year,
A cub was born,
With eyes like the sun,
And fur like the moon.
His bark summoned armies,
His howl wooed the wind,
His name was Filius Deum.
And he was the son of God.
His name went before him,
As Filius the great,
And Deum the terror.
He tore down the strongest wolf’s palace,
He ate the biggest wolf whole,
The weak were celebrated,
The sick brought hope,
The small unfettered,
and the name Omega,
Became the paramount of power,
and a concubine to ambition.

But Filius Deum,
Was like a raging fire,
That needed always to burn,
Least it go out.
When the last oppressor had been oppressed,
And the idols of subjugation toppled,
Filius Deum looked out over the peace,
He said:
“I see what I have done,
I see that it is good,
But my soul is empty still.
I yearn for a never ending feast,
That will never be.”
His appetite for destruction was insatiable.
So Filius Deum departed from his homeland,
Angst and horror springing up wherever his paws met the earth,
He traveled thrice across the world,
And once around the galaxy,
Before his legs gave way,
And he fell into mortal grievances.

Filius the great,
Deum the terror,
Forever crippled,
And consumed,
By his own lust,
Oh Filius the great,
Deum the terror,
Where hast thou honor gone,
Where is thine crown?
In blood and bone,
Inflicted upon your head,
Let it weigh heavily,
On your ever standing shoulders.
-Tales of Filius Deum,
"THE SON OF GOD"
