Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

His pillars stretched over the terra as the brute travelled the land in search of his brother. They had been separated upon arrival and Fili feared the worst had befallen the younger of the pair. He'd spent many nights sleepless and haunted by nightmares. The firstborn couldn't bear to think of what fate Kili had met. His search became an obsession of his and he stopped little for anything. Thorin had promised they would look for him, but it had taken to long for him to take action and so Fili took it into his own paws, stowing away in the darkness. He'd taken no provisions and wasted no time to catch anything so he became a scavenger, stealing small meals. By some miracle, he was not tired in the least, despite the fact that sleep had been alluding him for days. The adrenaline was enough to keep him going through it all. But even in this tireless journey he grew weary. Every time he thought he had caught the scent of his brother it turned out not to be. And so Fili was losing hope. Each time he was close to a scent it was lost forever. Now, with no scent to guide him, his deep green gazers took in the last place his brother could possibly be. Misty Mountain.

The storm brewing above him didn't faze the brujo. He was on a mission. The mountain was large and expansive, with numerous dens and caves around it. Paw prints packed down much of the snow and which were fresh and old were indistinguishable. The scents too were so overlaid that it was impossible to discern which was which and which went where. Maybe it was instinct. Or maybe it was the fact that they were brothers. Whatever the reason, Fili could feel that he was supposed to go straight up. Fewer tracks led that way, but still too many to tell them apart. The scents grew fainter as the smell of evergreen filled his nares. Still, the titan persisted. Even when the rain started falling. Even when it became a downpour and the snow turned to slush, running together the prints and washing the mountain. Even when the trek became more slippery. He had to see if his brother was there.

Through the pouring rain he could see a dark figure dart away. Fili's cranium shot up. He bolted after the figure, digging his claws into the ground as best he could in an attempt not to slip. The more he chased though, the more the figure evaded him. While his pace slowed as the mountain grew steeper, its stayed the same. In a last burst of speed, the red-blonde boy lunged towards it, hoping to maybe catch a glimpse at it. But all he saw was a tail tip disappearing into a throng of trees. Panting, the brute gave up. The other was too fast and the ground too slippery for him continue. His energy was zapped and the rain fell into his eyes and made it difficult to see. In frustration the male turned his head up to the heavens and screamed. KILI! The thunderclap boomed out as he shouted, echoing his own feelings.

Feeling hopeless,Fili looked around, trying to get his bearings. What luck is this? His gaze had found a small cave not but a few feet from himself. It was as if destiny had brought him to the cave. Shelter and somewhere dry to rest until the storm stopped. The brute walked in, tail and head down. He felt utterly defeated by it all. Shaking himself, the boy move into the farthest corner of the cave, curling up to heat himself. He shivered slightly in the wetness, his own body heat not doing much. But somehow heat still managed to find a way into his soaking fur, radiating off of another body. One with a familiar scent. A familial scent actually. Fili raised himself onto his paws and moved closer to the form, laying down and placing his head onto its neck. His voice was quiet and lower now, throat scratchy from his scream. Kili? He asked, not because he didn't know if it was him or not, rather to check if he was alright or not. He needed not so many words to say so though; Kili would understand.
