“Actually,” she said swiftly filling the void of silence between them. Yes, having the guards so easily dismissed had given much pleasure to Norah. Especially the captain of the guard, oh the nerve of him to be rude to her! Though, she could not help but try her hardest to keep the sly smirk off of her face once he was so readily dismissed by the king and gave her a dirty look. But swift mocha eyes turned warmly towards the king, “Your Grace, actually, my quest has left me quite troubled.” She let that sink for just a moment to observe him in all his goodness. He did not seem to be of the type of king to be so murderous as Lorraine had claimed he was. In fact, no, he did not seem to be of the evil type, as the butcher in her hometown was. Perturbed by this thought herself, she grabbed the bars in her hands and leaned forward so her tiny head poked through the two bars, clearly showing her features in the flicker of the light.

“Before I tell you of the horrible and awful journey that I am on, please forgive me for disturbing you in the middle of the night… And, well, allow me to explain before you say anything more. My name is Norah, you are the king of Shaman…” Now that introductions had been made she shifted from one foot to her other, allowing her hip to rest against the prison gate which held her. “I come from another land, thus making this journey to your castle was quite a feat. You have a wonderful kingdom, but I am afraid I bring you awful news – the goddess Lorraine summoned me to the Pantheon.” Allowing the information to sink in, she took a step to the left to gain a better look at the king, her eyes holding sadness, a hint of darkness, but not enough to bring doubt into her words. “She sent me on a mission to… and allow me to be straightforward, my Lord. To kill you.” Although inside her heart was racing due to the fact that those words were uttered to the one she was supposed to kill, she spoke again, taking in a deep breath. She could be killed for this – as it is treason against the king. “Now, before you believe that I was here to kill you, I assure you I was not – in fact, I was simply scouting out your kingdom, viewing the guards when I saw the shadowed figure of a man racing along the bridgeline of your castle. Now granted, I was planning on coming to you, not in the traditional manner, but I digress, by then my curiosity became the best of me, I had to explore.” Taking another deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest, her eyes scanned the ground seeing the tiny cracks before moving back to the king in all of his splendid colors of kingship.

“I was not sure of your customs but in my old kingdom, the king killed all those who tried to speak with him in front of the court. Anyway, I figured the only way to speak to you would be to come in the night. I was actually planning on tomorrow, but… the shadowed figure forced my hand. Or, rather, my arrow.” Straightening her body and then readjusting her weight to the other hip, she opened her mouth to speak again, “Lorraine said you were murderous, uncaring, cruel, and the like. And that to help her, I must kill you. She gave others instructions for awful crimes as well, my Lord. I came to inform and to be informed, if you please. I want to know… well, I want to know – is Lorrain right?” Now that she had spoken she felt the weight of guilt riding on her shoulders. She looked guilty – that was very much clear. Suddenly boots were heard clomping down the hallway again, this time, with another set – not of knighted or guards boots. Loosening her gaze from the King, she moved her mocha eyes down to the ground, listening with all of her might to hear what might happen next. Surely they found the thief she had shot? Surely the king would not sentence her to death. But then again, she had nothing to lose. Except her life. "I came with no intention to kill, but to see for myself, the king," she moved her lips, with a soft whisper as there came a knock upon the closed door.
