News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

how long will we blame the devils on our shoulders

Blood, I can smell it though it is a distant, vague smell. Still, it is an oddity to smell such a thing here in Diveen, and I cannot pretend that it does not stir my interest. The last time I had smelt lupine blood had been so long ago, when I had been small and pathetic. It is not hard to remember the look of it as that male's leg wept and sprayed blood, the tendrils of red leeching like rivers down his leg and through the dirt. The smell had been on my mother, too, the metallic taste keeping Diveen in a choke hold for days following. It is not like moose blood, or elk blood, but an entirely different thing - warm, wet, familiar. Even if it is but a drop in the air, I am still drawn to it out of curiosity, out of intrigue and eagerness to learn of its origins. Often, I have wondered if I would be the one to find Micteca broken and bleeding on the borders after having proved her weakness. To do so would kill many birds with one stone, after all.

If the blood had been enough to call for me then surely the scream, the utmost sound of agony, had been the ultimate driving force. It is not unlike the sound of a rabbit squealing, its throat hoarse and its heart beating so fast beneath its ribs. That is the sound, but it is lupine, too. Someone is inflicting pain, bringing upon another - how rare, how strange. Puppies scream. I wonder if I will come across one of their bodies - mother had made me think of that, of what it would be like to steal a child from its mothers' belly and pull it apart.

Of course, such a thing does not seem to be on my agenda - perhaps it had been folly of me to expect it. Instead, I am blessed by the form of my brother, but even from a distance I can see the crimson over his muzzle. My ears perk up in curiosity, my steps taking on a more bouncing stride - what have I found here? Often, I have wondered what it is my brother does and now, I have found him in the midst of something most peculiar. Still, he is a fool to do such a thing here. If I had heard it then undoubtedly others would too. The thing beneath him though, the thing that reeked of blood and fear, trembled - it is alive, that much I can tell. Has my brother failed? How odd to think such a thing. Never had I imagined my brother failing - I can't help but smile smugly as I come to them, moving in a wide circle as to inspect what it is I have found. For the longest time, I ignore the cretin that buries itself into him. Weakness, after all, deserves little attention, though I find my brother most strange in this instance.

"Mira."

Wonderful, for it is. As I circle, I fast find the object that he has claimed - a solitary eye, half deflated and bloodied, strewn upon the dirt as a scrap. I pause, lowering my muzzle to such a thing as I sniff at it, absorbing the unusual scent of it, admiring the punctures and twisted nature within it. In these moments, I care little for both my brother and his toy - it is much more intriguing than them. Slowly, I nuzzle it, attempting to make it move across the dirt but such a thing hardly agrees - my brother has ruined its shape, the gelatinous center having burst its seams. It is the eye of a wolf, I am sure, for it smells like the black creature against him.

I turn to her then, finally acknowledging the dark female with a cocked head, my eyes fast finding the wound in her face. It is hidden well for the most part, her dark fur concealing it but soon enough, I see it. The area is slick with blood, her sinew and flesh wet with plasma. It almost shines in the sunlight - in a way, it is beautiful. I find myself smiling darkly, watching as her body trembles beneath my brother's as it should. I only hope that she will turn to face me now. Regardless, I lower my head once more to the discarded organ, ever so gently picking it up between my teeth before I crush what remains of it. It bursts in my mouth, a flavorless, vile concoction - what I do next is... unexpected, even to myself.

I swallow, my tongue rolling across my muzzle to cleanse myself. It feels so much like the flesh of any other creature going down - soft and pliable, weak and useless. How odd, I think. How odd to think that like the elk and moose, we too can be defiled so easily. I smirk, raising my brows expectantly as I watch her before I slowly rise to meet my brother's gaze once more.

"Est illa a... game?"

Is she? Is she a game? If she is, then perhaps I shall play with my brother this day. It has been such a long time since I had the chance - I can't help but wonder what it is he gets up to.
