Being useful to a pack gave me a purpose other than raising my children. They where older now so time alone was more plentiful. When I wanted to get away from pack duties I went to the lake for relaxing. It was one of the few places my scar didn't ache and my mind could break from the constant muddle it was in. For once in a long time I had spare time.
So I took this rare occasion to leave Saw Tooth and the children, who should be training at this time. Crisp and clean scents wafted from the breeze that carried the gentle lakey scent. I took in a deep breath and laid down on the edge of the bank. It felt like boulders where lifted off my night frame as I hit the soft ground.
Gentle waves teased me as they threatened to wet my paws. At this time I didn't care, all I wanted was not a worry in the world. After all I was still healing physically and mentally. This place seemed to carry away my worries with each passing wave of the water. I laid my cranium on my ebony paws and just listened to the lake in silence.
