Danny hated the awkwardness. He hated the fact that it was so difficult for him to speak of their father - until recently, when destiny had pointed him towards the medical field, it had been difficult for him to speak at all - but he didn't know how to get around it. He knew he hadn't been there when Dylan had needed him the most, and now... now he didn't know how, exactly, to go about fixing it. If only Dad was still around, guiding them all and keeping everyone together. But Danny knew, because he'd asked, that there was no way for Castiel to return to them, no matter how much the family needed him. Dr. Gupta had told him he could still talk to his dad, though, in his head and in his heart. Danny thought about telling Dylan this, but shook the thought away after only a few seconds of consideration. The last thing Dylan probably wanted to hear about, from him at least, was stuff like that.

When Dylan changed the topic, Danny felt himself relax. It, of course, only made his guilt worse that that was his reaction, but he couldn't stop it from happening. Still, when Dylan spoke of wanting to tell the others of his new study, Danny nodded in understanding. "I totally get what you mean," he said, and his voice was a bit quieter and subdued. Like Dylan, Danny was incredibly worried about Renn and even more so because none of the older family members seemed to want to share what was happening to her with the twins. Surely, Danny thought, if it wasn't a big deal, someone would have told them what was going on... He met his twin's eyes, saw his own anxiety mirrored in those familiar depths, and desperately changed the subject.

He could see, almost immediately, Dylan's refusal of Danny's offer, and Danny tried not to let it discourage him. He wanted to help, however he could, not only to make up for his absence but because he wanted to show Dylan how much he supported him and wanted him to succeed. With everything going on with the rest of their family, Danny thought the twins should stick together, at least as much as the two of them could. Then, seeming to think it over a bit more, Dylan agreed. Danny couldn't help it, his grin was instant and bright and full of relief.

"Yeah, that would be awesome!" Danny said, his head bobbing enthusiastically. "I could use the practice. Oh, I could try drawing some diagrams from what I read, that might help."

"Your stick-figure plants are bad enough, Danny, let alone fighting stick-figures!" Solarius snorted. Dr. Gupta, at Danny's request, had been helping him learn the various plants and what they can do and part of the task was to draw the plants and indicate the differences, but Danny hadn't been very successful thus far. "You really should practice together, though. It'd be good for you to learn some fighting, and-"

"And you should probably learn some basic healing stuff too, Dylan!" Danny interrupted eagerly, pointedly ignoring the comment about his horrendous drawing abilities. "Dr. Gupta said a lot of the fighters have to learn the basics anyways cuz sometimes they'll be in situations where a healer can't get to them right away." - Already anticipating his twin's reaction, Danny grinned and quickly added. - "Don't worry, it's really not as boring as it sounds. There are some pretty gross pictures in my book too." Danny said gross the same way most people would say awesome or thrilling; though he still struggled with the real life versions of the injuries, he had developed a rather morbid curiosity when it came to the drawings and diagrams in his book.

Solarius caught Lunarian's expression and was busy frowning at the other familiar. While Danny was far too preoccupied with helping his twin to notice anything, Sol still thought it was awfully strange that the two of them had shown up in the library. Still, whatever had brought them there had gotten the boys to work together again and that was excellent. Sol worried that, without Dylan's impulsiveness and hunger for adventure to level him out, Danny would wind up some stuffy, boring old doctor someday. And being bonded to that was definitely not a thrilling prospect.

Danny had turned his focus to the roof comment, and his eyes were wide and filled with concern. He frowned at his twin, not ready to take Dylan's word that things were as safe as he was trying to make them sound. Though a thorough lecture on the possible injuries he could have sustained was on the tip of his tongue, Danny reminded himself that he hadn't been there for Dylan and had no right to question what his twin did with his time.

"Well..." Danny said, drawing out the word. "Just be safe, okay? I'd hate to see you carried off by some harpy or something, let alone falling off and breaking your neck!"

Danny smiled as he said it, but there was no hiding the concern in his blue-green eyes. He added "falling off roofs" to his already extensive list of things to worry about when it came to his family, but left it at that for now.
