Ashes to ashes, dust to dust

"Remember me and smile, for it is better to forget than to remember me and cry."

The shiny black of Cobalt's body stood in stark contrast to the white sand. Along with her fluid movement (she was much more graceful out of the water) she resembled a drip of ink rolling smoothly along a blank page, though she didn't leave a trail like an ink drop certainly would. Even her hoof prints were merely shallow indents in the soft, dry ground.

Used to the Crossing's temperate climate, Atlantis's heat felt heavy and new, especially since her dark body soaked up the sun without mercy. She would have fared nicely in a colder region, but as she learned to stick to the shade unless a breeze was present, the blue-eyed mare felt as though she could certainly get used to this. Winter seemed never to have touched this place; it was early spring, but it felt like midsummer.

The scenery seemed to match Sahin's personality. So far, anyway. She had seen neither Sahin's temper nor the tropics', and knew nothing of them, so it didn't cross her mind to worry about either. She trotted lazily along the water's edge, optimistic and ignorant, keeping her eyes open for Sahin or anyone who might live with the gold stallion.
