The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I've got to take hope from the fact that we haven't come to blows. Two dominate minded females such as ourselves are doing pretty good about getting along so far. It's not that I find something to dislike about the queen. On the contrare, I find her to be quite mysterious and intelligent but there's only so much mystery in the equal of my trusted king I can take. As I've said, I have standards, even for him.

She tells me that she's from the south, mentioning the group she reminded me of in the first place. Demonicans, that's the word I was looking for. Not many can pull off that scarlet coloring like they do. I nod in answer to her mentioning of the former king, Sidorio.

"I knew him but we weren't that close."

I look up with interest as Scarlet giggles, nothing about the sound being even remotely innocent or carefree. Mysterious, definitely. I raise a brow as she stretched out, her actions speaking volumes of what she thinks of me. She has decided I'm no threat. I guess I can accept that since I don't mean her any harm as long as she keeps up her task of keeping Kershov happy. The minute that's off the table, well, then in my mind's eye, so is she. No matter how unfaltering my loyalty to him, I still take care of my own.

When she mentions a certain shadowy male's name, I snap straight, my eyes narrowing slightly as I try to figure her meaning behind his name. A gossip queen, are we? I can't help the smirk that suddenly teases my lips. Okay, talking boys. I can handle this.

"Nothing official but he knows where I stand."

I tilt my head, taunting her now with this little tidbit of information that can only go so far. She wants more info? Then share a little. This is a give and take conversation. My eyes are sharp as I ask.

"How did you and Kershov meet?"

An innocent question but it will tell me the beginnings of what I need to know at least.
