Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

he who chases the river

Emotions were a strange thing for Bark to feel. He felt them, but at times he didn't understand them. I knew what it was like to be happy or to be scared. He even knew how to feel sad. But anger had never been an emotion the basic wolf could grasp. Perhaps it felt like the time when he had to defend his pack from a random loner who thought he could claim it while Boneclaw and Thuderbone were gone. Even then it had been a basic reaction to a threat and the feeling passed when the fight was won and Bark had returned to his pack as the victor.

So he was understandable that he didn't know how to react when he felt the boy's anger. It wasn't so much as a show of aggression as the aura emitting from him. His scent was off slightly and, though he tried to conceal it, Bark could see the tiniest prickle of fur rising along his spine. The older wolf turned his head to the side in a show of curiosity and let out a small whine. He had not come here to fight and from the way this younger male was acting it seemed he didn't want to fight either, but anything could tip the scale.

Wishing to avoid such a thing, Bark gave the younger his space and avoided eye contact. While he was older, he wasn't known to be a dominate wolf. Bark could easily fill the role of a leader if the need called for it, but he was content to let others do that while he spent the majority of his days basking in the warm sun as it heated his aging bones. He wasn't sure what had made him so upset and he couldn't really ask or give comfort but Bark was here and that was it.

Ears twitched when the brown wolf spoke. While Bark could not use the words himself, he understood them. Taliesin. This was the name the boy gave and Bark acknowledged by wagging his tail and giving a little yip in reply. When Taliesin asked if he wanted anything, Bark simply stared at the boy. He didn't want or need anything for now. His belly was full and his heart content. The gray wolf had simply wondered about his pack mate and chose to follow to be sure he was safe. After all, the world is dangerous and one so young could be hurt or killed. Ever the loyal wolf, Bark was thinking about this pack mates before all else.

Another whine left his throat as Bark took a cautious step forward, hoping he had not angered the child further. It was time to understand who Taliesin was and what part he would play. Perhaps Bark could take him under his wing and teach him a thing or two. The brown boy was large for being so young and it was clear he would grow to be quiet the powerhouse. Bark sniffed him, detecting the line that had once been in Dusk and Demetri, and tilted his head to the side again. There was still that anger under his skin and he couldn't understand why. But he could help to relieve the tension.

Taking a step back, He Who Chases The River lifted his muzzle and let out a beautiful melody. It was a song of his old home land, his birth land, in days gone by. The notes told of the small den he grew up in, how the river had become his Brother after he had borrowed the name, and how he had grown up to be a strong healthy wolf. It was a powerful song of memories and if he knew how to cry, tears would be falling down his cheeks. The howl carried on for a moment longer and then died away. The forest was quiet around the pair and Bark gazed at Taliesin with a pressing look. To a wolf, howling was the most important thing. He knew this child had many bottled emotions, knew that if he sang he could tell his story and maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't be so angry.

With his tail wagging softly behind him, Bark waited patiently for his younger companion to follow his example. He waited to hear the Song of Taliesin.
