[ooc]
Sorry for the wait, I got this halfway done before I left work Friday and forgot to copy it to my Docs!! D:

Solarius, as expected, grumbled loudly as Lunarian pounced on him and gnawed playfully on his ears, but it was a rather friendly sort of grumble. The big cat ducked his head, trying to wiggle free, but eventually contented himself with playful air bites towards the other familiar's massive paws. The two looked like giant kittens, Danny thought, and shook his head as he went around trying to pick up his various tools and items.

"Good idea!" Danny answered to Dylan's comment about using the training yard before the tournament. Like his brother, Danny hadn't been certain of their reception by the court children and was relieved that he didn't have to worry about running into them this way. His medical training had meant he'd helped Dr. Gupta with all sorts of people, rich and poor, but he'd always felt more comfortable in the cottages than the grander homes. When Dylan continued, mentioning they would meet Renn and Flynn at the tournament later, Danny turned to his brother with excitement in his eyes. "That sounds great! I've been hoping we could watch it, maybe you'll learn something helpful. I just hope I don't..."

Danny grinned a little at that; as useful as such observations could be to his training, it was hard watching people they knew - or knew of - getting hurt. Though tournaments were largely for fun, excluding those matches used to settle personal differences, there was always risk involved no matter what. Dylan's comment at receiving the bowl and sand bags, Danny snorted with amusement.

"No, silly!" he said, poking his brother in the stomach. "I'll explain later, just trust me. Oh!"

Danny, who had been stepping towards the doorway while Sol extricated himself from his nest, abruptly turned around and grabbed two canteens of water. They'd probably need more, given his plan, but it would be enough to get them started. Meanwhile, Lunarian had abandoned his wrestling match with Sol and bounced over to Dylan with enthusiasm.

"Congratulations!" Danny said eagerly, moving to give his brother an affectionate slap on the shoulder. "I can't wait to hear all about it, and it'll be really nice to have company on the walk in. This one can get real annoying, whines all the time."

Danny playfully nudged Sol with his boot as he said this, earning himself a mock glare. Finally having gathered all his supplies, Danny and Sol trotted after Dylan and Lunarian, laughing as Dylan decided that the bowl made a good hat.

"That looks really awesome on you, you should wear that all the time," Sol teased, mock nipping at Lunarian's tail as they followed the other pair down to the training yard. As Danny and Dylan sat down in the sand and started discussing their plans, Sol pounced at Lunarian as the other cat sharpened his claws, then bounded around the opposite side of the tree. The two, Danny was sure, would be using the time their boys spent training to play like giant children.

"Well, first," Danny said, taking the bowl from Dylan's head and pouring the first canteen of water into it. "We're gonna try this exercise. It sounds really weird at first, but just try it. I read this book about this group of people on Earth called Shaolin monks. They're pretty amazing warriors, I can loan you the book if you want. Anyways! The point of this exercise is to slap the water in the bowl hard and fast with your hand like this."

Danny showed Dylan the first exercise, slapping the water hard with the palm of his hand flat.

"You need to do it really hard and fast for it to work, but eventually it will build up your hands and arms so you can hit really hard. It's a good exercise because it doesn't take a lot of strength and energy at first, but does a lot for you in the long run."

Realizing he was rambling, Danny tried to sum up his next idea more quickly.

"The sandbags are to help your grip, you should carry them around and work them in your hands whenever you can. You can also hold them while you're doing exercises, they're heavy enough that they'll help add resistance; eventually you'll need bigger ones, but for now they should help. Oh, and you can throw them around and stuff too to help learn motions that'll help in battle. Or, at least, that's what the book said."
