The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Despite her long sprint Spirit didn’t feel very tired; in fact her breathing hadn’t changed much. If there was one thing she always had control over, it was her breathing she had been taught that breathing heavily would just serve to wear you down more. She considered managing coax herself into the caves a small victory, but she still shook with nervous energy and excitement, her white ruff fur bristling slightly at what may or may not happen. She began wonder a little farther, the cracks in the earth above that lit her way. She didn’t go very far, before she found what she believed to be an underground river. She went to the edge to take a few laps of the water, and then stared into the darkness across the flowing water. To her right was the entrance, and to her left appeared to more caves.

‘Is this what my drive wanted me to see, that my connection to others is down here as well?’ she wondered, ‘no, the drive brought me here for a different reason, but what?’

Despite waters normally calming effect on her for some reason, her heart raced on, adrenaline still coursed through her veins, and blood continued roared in her white tipped ears, she was ready for anything; that is anything, except the male’s voice that suddenly spoke from same entrance she had come from. Somehow managing so swallow the yelp that had almost leapt from her maw, as she turns quickly on her white paws her mismatched eyes wide with surprise; she faces the mostly black older male, His hello echoed through the caves, realizing that he meant her no harm she dipped her head in greeting.

“Hi,” said her voice soft and quiet to the point there was almost no echo.
Just about this time she noticed her own stance, front paws spread wide ready to attack, defend, or bolt; most likely the latter her not being an aggressive wolf.

She rights herself, but her eyes still wide and heart pounding in her chest; in fact she wouldn’t be surprised if the other wolf could hear it. he didn’t approach her, this she was thankful for. Little more self-conscious, she finds the fear scent that seemed to radiate from her; she hated being so scared and distrusting of older wolves, which the male in front of her could thank her old pack for.

Then they hear female voice that seemed to float down from the entrance at first it pointed out these caves they were in were new. ‘Of course they are.’ Spirit said mentally but didn’t trust her voice to actually say anything. But then the other female’s voice grew a sharp tone saying something about befriending rocks, causing Spirit to involuntarily duck her head.

She opened her maw to response, but snapped it shut again when yet another appears from deeper in the caves. The older, golden she-wolf greeted them kindly; she appeared to be talking to the male for she was looking at him. Spirit was resisted the urge to correct the new comer when she called them a group, while she’d like to be in one Spirits conflicting emotions with older wolves normally kept herself at a distance.

Finally reining in her fear and uncertainty, and then hesitating only a second before taking small step forward. She bowed her head greeting once again, the continued on to say,“Hi, my name is Spirit, and it's nice to meet you all.”
